Weekend Kpop Update | I.O.I Yoojung Parody of “Very Good”, Zico Responds + “Goblin” Delay, Creators Statement + Gary and Gil Ready to Split?

So, usually the netisphere is buzzing with different things that I couldn’t begin to predict happening, but it’s been unusually quiet. Or maybe, I just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, it’s been a lot of good news!

Suga has returned to BTS following an injury. He was noticeably absent from some promotions and the end of the year performance but have no fear, he has returned and is ready for their comeback in the future!

I.O.I’s Yoojung is also having a good and interesting week! Her parody of Zico’s “Very Good” was extremely well received by the fans but also by Zico himself. After the show aired, he responded to it saying simply,

I was watching and I was surprised to see my own stage parody. Yoojung copied me better than myself. She managed to be cute at the same time, so I enjoyed watching it.”

If you’re a fan of the show “Goblin”, you may have been wondering what the hold up was! There was this amazing moment and a cliffhanger and everyone was waiting to see what was going to happen next, with three episodes left annnnnnnnnnnnnnddd… the next episode cancelled and replaced by a special episode, “All Days Were Good”.

So what happened????

The producers say… they wanted the graphics to look right. While debunking all the popular rumors and wide-spread speculations, they gave a really valid reason.

“..While is it true we had a hectic filming schedule; when we reached the middle episodes, we didn’t have any problems filming the rest… The delay is partly due to our PD’s ambitious goals. The last 3 episodes are going to be full of bright colors, as they will be focusing on a lot of the magical and fantastical aspects of the storyline. Thus, we are planning on using a lot of computer graphics, which requires a little more time. We don’t want the computer graphics to look tacky, so we’re focusing entirely on improving the visuals so that it can live up to the name of being a fantasy drama.”

Honestly, I think that’s a better way to end a show. I’d much rather it be a late airing and look good then to be thrown together and trash. Sooooooooooooo many good dramas have gone that route and it’s always super disappointing and upsetting.

Quality over quantity any day!

It’s being reported that the Leessang company is about to split up due to Gary and Gil wanting to pursue solo career paths. They’ve already started their own solo labels, Magic Mansion and Yangbans Nation, but is this really happening? Will Leessang break up too?

Leessang Company, owned by Leessang’s Gil and Gary, are currently in the process of closing their business, and have already enlisted their building up for sale. January 13, according to an insider in the industry, Leessang Company’s employees have not been working since last year, and the company’s building is currently on the market priced at 9 billion won since January 11.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens but honestly, this is super upsetting.

Weekend Update | Running Man’s Lee Kwang Soo’s Emotional Acceptance Speech + Running Man Issues Apology + “The Show”, MCs Jeon Somi And Wooshin’s Controversial Video Response

And here it is! The Weekend Update! No delay, let’s get started!

At the 2016 SBS Entertainment Awards, Running Man’s  Lee Kwang Soo was nominated and won in the category of Top Excellence Award. But it wasn’t just the award that’s garnering attention, it was also his very emotional acceptance speech that had even the cast getting emotional as well.

In his speech, he talked about how he felt about the cast and production team of Running Man, even giving a nod to fellow co-star/”older sister” Song Ji Hyo who referred to as “his real older sister”. Following the speech, he gave hugs to all of the Running Man team in attendance. Truly an emotional moment following the controversy that left the fans of Running Man extremely disheartened and confused.

No hard feelings?

And of course, all this is happening around the same time that the Running Man production team issued an official apology on their recent show.

“The December 25 episode of SBS’s “Running Man” was a Christmas special that featured a guest appearance from Kim So Hyun. At the end of the episode, all six cast members could be seen coming together. The scene was filmed after the recent controversy, and Kim Jong Kook broke the ice by saying, “I thought I wasn’t going to see your faces again, but here we are… Yoo Jae Suk then opened the big box in front of them. Inside the box was a bouquet of flowers and apples, along with a letter that read, “To our loving “Running Man” cast members. We apologize for the hurt and pain we have caused you. We will do our best to be a more mature and hardworking staff from now on.”

(source: soompi)

Fans are saying, that whereas the gesture was nice, it is far too little too late. Claiming that the show is now “ruined” and “the damage is done”.

I can’t say I disagree with their sentiments. The show ends February 2017.

And finally, the controversy heard around the world. Allegedly, during a Christmas greeting video from “The Show” MC’s UP10TION’s Wooshin and I.O.I’s Jeon Somi, it can be seen where Wooshin supposedly touches Somi’s chest. There was fan outrage and now public statements have been released to deny any and all physical contact between the two MC’s.

“When the controversy escalated and spread, “The Show” released a statement on Twitter that read, “The show’s staff were there on location when the two MCs were filming this video to monitor the footage. The scene was filmed with the two MCs keeping a reasonable distance between each other. We hope that there are no more misunderstandings regarding this.”

(source: soompi)

Here’s the thing, if you watch the video, you can clearly tell that it is simply the angle at which the camera is being held. There’s nothing physical going on here.

False alarm folks.

Kpop Update | “Running Man” Controversy Continues + Got7’s Jackson Begging Sasaengs “Leave Me Alone” Gone Viral + WINNER’s First Broadcast as Four Members + New Music

Alright, so I didn’t really want to title this “Weekend Update” because this was supposed to be on Wednesday. However, regardless of the day we’re going to get into all of this!

Starting with Running Man.

Everytime I hear something new about the cast of Running Man, I usually overlook it because it’s typically a lot of speculation. But with Gary shutting down his social media account after news broke following an announcement that Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook would be leaving the show, there might be some truth to what’s being said.

So what happened???

News broke that both Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook  would be leaving the show. The problem was, neither of them at the time were made aware of this. The show had announced it was going through changes, which is something each parties agencies acknowledged, however what they didn’t know was that this would include cast changes.

Song Ji Hyo’s Agency Statement:

“We knew Running Man would go through changes from SBS but it is true that we only found out from news reports which members would not be invited back. We do not want to comment on Song Ji Hyo’s feelings but it is not our official stance that it was not a good farewell. There is a definite road she needed to walk as an actress and considered leaving the show so it [seemed] natural to leave the show during the season-change. However, it is true there was a lack of active communication from the production crew in the steps leading up to Song Ji Hyo leaving the show. There is a lot of regret emotionally but as it is the production’s decision, we will humbly accept it.”

Kim Jong Kook’s Agency Statement:

“It is true that we were told about Kim Jong Kook leaving the show one-sidedly. It is regrettable. Even though Kim Jongkook was not in the best health condition, it was a program he really cared for and took part in.”

(source: koreaboo)

When did the two find out? The night of the report!

Now there’s speculation that Gary is responding to the news by cutting off his social media contact with all involved over slighting his friends. Of course this is purely speculation and nothing has been said to the affirmative, but it is interesting timing.

Gary has also unfollowed everyone on his Instagram account, previously following a total of 145 people. He also had 88 photos uploaded to his account prior to the purge. His last few posts were videos that were uploaded about 5 days ago.

Guess we’ll be following this story to see what happens…

Got7’s Jackson is also in the midst of a controversy that is taking the Got7 fandom by storm!

It is truly one thing to be surrounded with support and love by fans but it is another thing when that love and support becomes so overwhelming, it’s almost smothering. Jackson experienced this “smothering” love while in a Chinese airport recently. There’s a video from that experience that has fans all over outraged of Jackson begging on his knees for the sasaengs to leave him alone.

There’s another video of him asking fans to basically give him space, expressing how tired he is and asking them if he needs to get on his knees and beg. It was until after he literally gets on his knees begging and pleading that concerned fans begin to also plead with the others to leave him alone.

This comes on the heels of an incident, not too long ago, where fans actually forced him to crash his car when they were tailing him.

Seriously, this has gone too far.

In lighter news, WINNER has finally surfaced after being hidden away for a long time preparing for their comeback. But the moment is truly bittersweet seeing them now as a four member group instead of five. Earlier, it was reported that Taehyun would have to leave due to a medical condition making them a four member group officially.

On December 15th, WINNER greeted their fans through a live streaming broadcast. It was their first public activity with four members left in the lineup… The broadcast was done in conjunction with the statement by YG Entertainment that confirmed their comeback plans. The agency stated that WINNER and iKON are both preparing their albums, aimed to be released early next year.

It’s good to see that they will be making a return! And I’m sure we all wish Taehyun the very best and to get well soon.

Wednesday Kpop Update |”Scarlet Heart: Goryeo”, IU’s Acting Draws Criticism + I.O.I Comeback Announced + VIXX Leo, Status Update on Health

Due to my lack of internet access, I’m struggling a little to do this post. But we’re going to get through it as best as possible. I’m working on getting internet back on my desktop. But in the meantime, check out twentythirdstation.tumblr.com for links to the top kpop news stories this week as well as teasers, photos, and a whole bunch of other stuff that doesn’t make it to the blog! (shameless plug)

Alright, so I will just say it, IU can’t catch a break! Critics first said that she was wearing too much make-up for the drama and now they’re saying her acting isn’t exactly credible. Yikes! Well, Kim Young Sub, the director of “Scarlet Heart: Goryeo”, has responded to the acting critics and he says in short, it’s because people are already super critical of IU.

“I don’t think that it deserves to be so severely criticized… I know people are prejudiced about IU because she made her start as an idol… I don’t believe it is fair for people to judge her acting based on this excessive prejudice.”

(Source: soompi

I have to say I agree with him on this. IU gets a lot of flack for a lot of different reasons but at least give her a chance to improve.

A bit of a shocker to me but I was unaware there was any thought that I.O.I would be making a comeback with less members than before but, apparently there were rumors flying around that I missed. Well, Surprise! All 11 members are returning. I.O.I’s agency, YMC Entertainment confirmed the new on the 30th.

On August 30th, the girl group’s acting management agency YMC Entertainment confirmed their comeback which is set for the second week of October. The members have already begun with the tracks’ recording sessions, and it is being further reported that producer Rhymer would be producing two of their songs, raising expectations of the public.

Time to celebrate this bittersweet victory I.O.I fans and supporters alike, the ladies are winding down to their final time together as a group as they will disband next year.

VIXX’s Leo was injured during a recording of MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics Championship”. He was injured in the face during the futsal portion. There has been large debate over whether or not idols should be participating in activities like this, with a large amount of fans saying no. Why? Because of things like this! I digress. It’s actually a pretty interesting debate.

Back on topic…

However, Jellyfish Entertainment has come out and said, he’ll recover.

“Because there is still swelling in his face, Leo will get sufficient rest and recover stability this whole week, and we confirmed through an expert that there is no problem with recovering from the injury.” – allkpop “Jellyfish Entertainment updates on Leo’s condition”

(source: allkpop)

Looks like he’s going to be alright! Don’t worry so much.

That’s it for this week! Because I’m working from a tablet, I will now direct you all to twentythirdstation.tumblr.com for videos. I’ll have a separate post for them hopefully this weekend!
