Monday Update | YG Ent. New Girl Group, Two Confirmed +”Produce 101″ Trainees Dropping Lawsuit + Jun Ji Hyun And Lee Min Ho Confirmed New SBS Drama

Ok so today has been really really busy!! If you don’t believe me, head over to twentythirdstation.tumblr.com to see more links of kpop/k-drama news. I couldn’t post it all here but I’ll talk about as much as I can.

RAIN’S “La Song” has made it back on the Chinese charts after two long years since its release. G-Friend’s Sin B has somehow managed to get into a world of trouble of an old photo that has begun circulating of her. Apparently, she’s flipping off the camera. Netz are saying that this is her alleged, “true nature”. (And I’m rolling my eyes.)

BIGBANG fans are calling for a boycott! They believe that, due to mismanagement of their recent activities, if they boycott their 2016 Soul Concert Live DVD it’ll send a message to their agency and hopefully changes will come with management and treatment. There list of grievances include, a busy schedule, lack of concern for the members health and a “lack of consideration over their image online or safety“.

I’m not sure how this will all turn out considering YG just announced that not only is there a potential comeback in the works, they’re also working on a new girl group!

“According to reports, the girl group will be produced by Teddy, and start revealing one member per week starting this week…. Yang Hyun Suk said they’ve practiced for a long time, so their skills are guaranteed. I trained them like they were my elite troops. They won’t really feel like the second 2NE1 because they have a different aura. I am a little nervous because they’re the first girl group in 7 years, but I’m also confident.”

So far, there are already two confirmed members to this new group, Kim Jisoo And Jennie Kim. The names may sound familiar as this has not only been circulating for a while that they may or may not be involved with this project and after a failed debut, it wasn’t looking possible, but now it looks the ladies will get their day in the sun/time to shine!

Produce 101 Trainees Lee Hae In and Lee Su Hyun made major headlines when they announced they would be filing a lawsuit against their agency SS Entertainment to terminate their exclusive contracts. They felt that the contracts were too extensive and they didn’t receive everything they were promised.

Well now, that lawsuit has been dropped.

“…[Lee Hae In and Lee Su Hyun]  have dropped their lawsuit against their agency regarding their contract after having reached a mutual agreement… The two girls’ representative and lawyer revealed on May 25th that the agency has agreed to terminate the girls’ contract without any additional conditions during a meeting just the day prior.

(source: koreaboo)

The statement released after this news broke by their representative went on to say that the two were apologetic to fans for “worrying them”.

Crisis averted?

And then there was k-drama news!!

It seems as though the kpop world has enough drama in it to keep your attention diverted from scripted dramas. (Because sometimes, life is far more entertaining than fiction)

Enter: Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho

The two have been officially confirmed for a new SBS drama that will be written by the same writers from the ever popular drama, “My Love From The Stars”. The drama was so popular that it has received international praise with an American adaptation in the works. With that type of credibility following these writers and with the caliber of acting ability that Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho both possess, this drama may very will be another smash hit for everyone involved.

“The drama, with the working title “Legend of the Blue Sea,” will star Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun, airing on SBS, Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting in November. It is slated to premiere after the end of “Incarnation of Envy.” The drama is a fantasy romance, taking its motif from the mermaid/merman story in Korea’s first historical (romance) storybook. In the Joseon-era storybook, it is recorded that real-life figure Kim Dam Nyeong returned mermaids/mermen that were caught fisherman back to the sea.”

(source: soompi)

And now that the rumors have been cleared and the two have been named official leads, it looks like it’s already picking up steam internationally. Chinese broadcasting companies are already looking to find someway to air the drama as well.

I’m so ready for this one!

Wednesday Kpop Update | AOA and EXID Planned Comebacks this Summer + BEAST’s Yong Junhyung Self-Produced Single + Jellyfish New Girl Group Rumors Clarified + New Music Videos

Alright so we’re back with another edition of the Wednesday Kpop Update. Not gonna lie, this is actually my second favorite post of the week.

Let’s start with the comeback news of AOA and EXID. Though it was a solid rumor all through March about their comebacks in the summer, it’s now official and the dates are coming. AOA will kick it off first in May and EXID will follow in June!

AOA’s agency FNC has stated that they are still trying to set the specific date but it should be some time in May or June. And EXID’s agency Banana Culture has said officially that their comeback will be the first week of June.

This is great news for both groups! Can’t wait to hear their new music.

BEAST’s Yong Junhyung has decided to self-produce a new song. The news of this comes shortly after announcing that he will no longer be a member of BEAST. But when we will hear this solo music?

According to Cube Entertainment’s statement, it might not be too soon.

“It is true that Yong Junhyung is preparing for the release of a self-produced project song, but the release date has yet to be decided. We are still negotiating.”

(source: soompi)

There will also be no promotion for the single and it’ll only be released online. Really??

Jellyfish Entertainment got caught in the swirling rumors about a new girl group that will have trainees Kim Sejung and Kang Mina from Produce 101. But Jellyfish says, while the girl group is true, the line-up isn’t for certain just yet.

In an official statement they said:

“It’s been years since we launched preparations for the girl group. ‘Produce 101′ contestants Kim Sejung, Kang Mina, and Kim Nayoung are just some of our many trainees. The girl group’s debut schedule and member line-up have all yet to be decided,”

Well now I’m just curious about who will be in this group and when will they debut…

Thursday Kpop Update | “Produce 101” Trainees on Show Illegally + Eddy Kim and Zico Collaboration Track Year-Long Production + Red Velvet Comeback (Teaser)

The kpop world this week was so eventful and exciting, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to talk about all the major headlines and still post the new music. But I did a pretty good job of covering all of it, or so I thought.

“Produce 101” is back in the headlines but not necessarily for good reasons. Apparently, some of their show trainees are from agencies that aren’t registered with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. And in total, it’s about 6 agencies. So what does that mean for the trainees? Well, it means they’re illegally on the show. The show isn’t taking the accusation lightly and has already released a statement.
“We received an inquiry from the creative content agency regarding registered companies so we immediately made an inquiry with participating enterprises about the guidelines and submitted the necessary registrations.”
(source: allkpop)
The show targeted trainees from all agencies and even said that they willfully targeted agencies that hadn’t registered. Now that they have trainees on the show, the agency is still expected to complete their registration. And the show wants verification after the process is done.
Will the agencies properly register and provide verification? Will the trainees get to stay on the show? Find out on the next episode of…
In all seriousness, I’m sure they will now that attention has been called on their lack of proper paperwork and since the show is this far along, I’m sure they’ll allow the trainees to stay. Legal or not.

Eddy Kim just released a new single with Beenzino “Paldangdam” which has gotten the attention of a lot of people.

However, the topic quickly shifted to Kim’s collaboration track with Zico. Apparently, it’s taken over a year to produce this one song. Why? Apparently, Zico and Jung Joon Young have been saying that Eddy Kim is lazy and he wasn’t having it. Jokingly, he said in an interview:
“…I’ve been working on a collaboration track with Zico since April of 2015. While I’m as lazy as I’m available, Zico is so busy, and I tell him that if he gives me a date, I’ll be there. It’s getting to be a year since we’ve started this collaboration project, but now I’m not even sure if we’ll be able to finish it.”
(source: allkpop)
It is true that Zico is busy. With his new releases and mixtapes, it seems he is everywhere with new music. Here’s to hoping that this track doesn’t end up getting put on the backburner…

So I’m sure by now you have either heard about this comeback or seen the teasers for it so it’s probably not a total surprise about Red Velvet’s impending comeback that they’re doing so, gracefully. No pun intended, the ladies have been releases teasers in soft pink and ballerina theme. I wonder if this new single will be a ballad?
If you haven’t seen them, check out the teaser images below!

Monday Kpop Update |SM and YG Trainees Pass On “Produce 101” + “JYJ Law” Passes + BTS Talks About “Run” and “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Part 2”

Today was a day of great news for blacklisted kpop stars! But first, Psy released two new comeback videos, Daddy and Napal Baji to delight of many fans! And in true Psy fashion, both are extremely entertaining.

The joke was on BEAST’s Yoseob. BEAST decided to play a harmless prank on Yoseob on KBS’ Music Bank. I think the “plan” was for all the members to run out on the stage for the fans. When the time came, Yoseob was running out to the fans alone. It was pretty funny and he took it all in stride.

Have you heard of the show “Produce 101”? It’s a new show on Mnet that has the whole goal of producing a new girl group from trainees that are signed to Korean agencies. Filming has apparently already begun, however, all the Korean agencies trainees won’t be participating.

“…it was reported by Korean news outlets over the weekend that neither SM Entertainment nor YG Entertainment’s trainees will be part of the 101 women participating for their place in a K-pop group… The 101 trainees have already begun filming, reported entertainment insiders, but little else is known about the format of the show, except that the final project group will only include 10 members.”

(source: kpopstarz)

No real reason was given for why they aren’t participating in the show but it might have something to do with the agencies having other plans for their trainees.

And YG is so secretive anyway, you never really know when they’re going to release new music or who is releasing the new music until like the day before.

But since we’re talking about trainees and artists appearing on tv…

The “JYJ Law” was officially passed! But what is the “JYJ Law”? This is a law the prohibits broadcasting stations from banning/blacklisting celebrities. And if they do it anyway, they’ll be fined up to 2% of the company’s sales.

“…the amendment prohibits broadcasting companies from preventing appearances of an individual or group on a show due to a third party’s request that is unrelated to the production of a show, or due to a request that comes from a third party even after a certain individual or group has been legally cleared to appear on a show.”

(source: soompi)

JYJ has been trying to fix this situation for 7 years and now finally, something is being done to stop this from happening.

But, there’s still doubt and worry. The producers of the shows can still decide who gets time on the air. Even on agency director in the article at soompi said that this isn’t exactly likely to “pave the way for JYJ to appear on music programs” and that chances are they’re only going to do just enough to make sure they act within the law.

We shall see how this all works out.

BTS recently opened up in an interview about the meanings of their concepts for the song “Run” and “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Part 2”. It wasn’t too far off from a lot of the meanings I’ve been seeing posted by a few different bloggers.

“Part one explained how youth is tiring and difficult, and it also touched on how we feel like we’re always on edge. Part two will have a more adventurous and daring feel to it. That’s why our title song is ‘Run’,” said the group (via Soompi) “We didn’t want to just blankly say ‘cheer up’ or ‘be strong.’ We really wanted to comfort people our way, by producing the music and writing the lyrics ourselves. We poured our heart and soul into this amazing song,” said Rap Monster.

(source: kpopstarz)

I think it’s a truly touching meaning. It’s nice that they’re creating something for their fans to relate to in such a way that’s encouraging them to keep pressing forward.

Sometimes, we all need a remainder to keep pushing.
