Weekend Kpop Update | I.O.I Yoojung Parody of “Very Good”, Zico Responds + “Goblin” Delay, Creators Statement + Gary and Gil Ready to Split?

So, usually the netisphere is buzzing with different things that I couldn’t begin to predict happening, but it’s been unusually quiet. Or maybe, I just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, it’s been a lot of good news!

Suga has returned to BTS following an injury. He was noticeably absent from some promotions and the end of the year performance but have no fear, he has returned and is ready for their comeback in the future!

I.O.I’s Yoojung is also having a good and interesting week! Her parody of Zico’s “Very Good” was extremely well received by the fans but also by Zico himself. After the show aired, he responded to it saying simply,

I was watching and I was surprised to see my own stage parody. Yoojung copied me better than myself. She managed to be cute at the same time, so I enjoyed watching it.”

If you’re a fan of the show “Goblin”, you may have been wondering what the hold up was! There was this amazing moment and a cliffhanger and everyone was waiting to see what was going to happen next, with three episodes left annnnnnnnnnnnnnddd… the next episode cancelled and replaced by a special episode, “All Days Were Good”.

So what happened????

The producers say… they wanted the graphics to look right. While debunking all the popular rumors and wide-spread speculations, they gave a really valid reason.

“..While is it true we had a hectic filming schedule; when we reached the middle episodes, we didn’t have any problems filming the rest… The delay is partly due to our PD’s ambitious goals. The last 3 episodes are going to be full of bright colors, as they will be focusing on a lot of the magical and fantastical aspects of the storyline. Thus, we are planning on using a lot of computer graphics, which requires a little more time. We don’t want the computer graphics to look tacky, so we’re focusing entirely on improving the visuals so that it can live up to the name of being a fantasy drama.”

Honestly, I think that’s a better way to end a show. I’d much rather it be a late airing and look good then to be thrown together and trash. Sooooooooooooo many good dramas have gone that route and it’s always super disappointing and upsetting.

Quality over quantity any day!

It’s being reported that the Leessang company is about to split up due to Gary and Gil wanting to pursue solo career paths. They’ve already started their own solo labels, Magic Mansion and Yangbans Nation, but is this really happening? Will Leessang break up too?

Leessang Company, owned by Leessang’s Gil and Gary, are currently in the process of closing their business, and have already enlisted their building up for sale. January 13, according to an insider in the industry, Leessang Company’s employees have not been working since last year, and the company’s building is currently on the market priced at 9 billion won since January 11.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens but honestly, this is super upsetting.

Thursday Kpop Update | BIGBANG, New Song Release for Album Later this Year + Davichi Comeback Announcement + JYP, Suzy Not Going Solo… Yet

So I didn’t get to post this yesterday like I intended. After doing the WOTD I was tired! A lot of researching went into that post and it took me about two hours! After being at work all day and then doing that, I was exhausted. However, this Thursday, the last Thursday of the month, will be used to play catch-up. Next week, Foreign Language Tips returns!!

I guess today is the day of comeback news and new music! All positive energy here!

Surprise! BIGBANG is returning very soon!

After member Seungri revealed during an online broadcast that BIGBANG’s new album would be coming out by the end of this year and that they have been secretly recording for the new album, YG Entertainment has confirmed that the group is working on a new song and it almost complete.

(source: soompi)

I was super excited to hear the news that BIGBANG would be returning with a new album later this year and that they are currently working on a new song. Following the massive success of their last album and world tour, this is sure to be just as chart topping and popular!

With all the news of comebacks, I was beyond thrilled to hear of Davichi’s return! The duo are set to make their comeback in October! But they didn’t just make an announcement through a statement, they’ve released teasers to get us all ready!

I can’t wait for this new ballad! At least, I hope it’s a ballad.

And finally, I’m not sure where the rumors of Suzy going solo and debuting soon got started, but JYP is here to tell you, it’s not happening.

Today, September 29 KST, the same rumors found its way to the news, with more details. Allegedly, Suzy would be releasing a solo album in December. According to an affiliate, Suzy is currently preparing for her solo music promotion… In response, JYP Entertainment stated that their stance is the same as before – there is talk of it, but there are no concrete plans.

See you guys! It’ll happen.. just not yet.

Thursday Kpop Update | Singer Yozoh Apologizes for Cartoon + Chinese MC Expresses Too Much Affection for Seolhyun + Produce 101’s Final Debut + f(x) Amber “Borders” MV

I really and honestly don’t know where to begin. After the shocking news about Sulli’s upcoming “scene” with Kim Soo Hyun and the four celebrities, who have allegedly been named on various sites, being indicted on charges of prostitution… I honestly have no words for today. So I’ll skip the chitchat and post a photoshoot of Suzy on 1st Look magazine.

Let’s talk some kpop…

Singer Yozoh recently got some serious backlash when she decided to draw a cartoon that basically called her friend ugly. It all began when Yozoh decided to upload a cartoon strip she drew and captioned it, “First in a long time. Shin Yozoh’s cartoon. What happened yesterday. I’m sorry for being so honest.”

And then… it got real.

“In nine panels, the singer portrays herself and a TV show production staff member talking. It’s the recording day for JTBC’s talk show, “Kim Je Dong’s Talk to You – Don’t Worry, Dear” and she and the female staff are waiting behind the stage. The singer notices the jacket that staff is wearing and comments that it is cute and that the staff looks like the bunny character on the jacket. The female staff responds that she doesn’t really see the similarity; the bunny character is ugly. The singer then says, “You’re also ugly.” When the staff remains silent, the singer says, “I guess you thought you were pretty.” The final two panels show the singer being called to the stage and the staff member being left alone in gloom.”

Honestly, I figured for her to post something like this, she and the person she was referring to have to be pretty close. It’s probably how they joke with each other. However, it was a pretty bad idea to upload it for the public to see knowing fully well that netizens don’t take too kindly to this type of behavior. And what do you know? They attacked as soon as they saw it. Yozoh ended up having to take the post down and apologizing for it saying,

“I think the cartoon uploaded yesterday made a few people uncomfortable. I received a few complaints… As someone who is also sensitive to comments that make fun of people’s weight and looks, I feel even more miserable that I allowed that kind of room for misinterpretation. I am sorry for causing the misunderstanding. I quickly deleted the cartoon because I thought there might be even more misunderstanding. This account has been private for a long time, but I hope this message will reach the people who misunderstood the cartoon.”

(source: soompi)

You can see her full apology on soompi. It’s a bit long so I omitted some of it and just got to the apology.

That account might be becoming private again really soon…

Speaking of inappropriate…

A Chinese MC just found out that excessive affection can land you in a whole lot of trouble. And after looking at the pictures, it looks warranted. AOA was performing for an event and this MC decided to get a handful of Seolhyun. He wasn’t groping her private areas or anything but he did violate her space… completely! And the response to his actions are… well…

“In addition to complaints from netizens who saw photos of the skinship at the event in Hong Kong, Chinese media outlets have also openly criticized the MC for his actions. In fact, fan unions from Hong Kong and Taiwan have even requested an official apology from the MC for putting the FNC Entertainment singer in such an uncomfortable and awkward situation.”

(source: koreaboo)

I guess he didn’t see that coming. Maybe next time he’ll keep his hands to himself.

So Produce 101 has their final group together and have been working on a debut. While we wait for their debut song, there have been some pretty major developments with the new group.

“…the group which has yet to be determined has already received numerous CF offers… YMC Entertainment, the agency that will be managing the project group, has revealed that the group will be promoting their album in April and May… Along with music promotions, the “Produce 101″ final girl group has been confirmed to appear on future episodes of “Weekly Idol” and “Cool Kiz on the Block”…”

Not bad ladies… not bad.

And finally, check out Amber’s new single “Borders”!

Wednesday Kpop Update | DSP Media Responds to KARA Rumors of Disbanding and Solo Ventures + Seohyun Joins “Moon Lovers” Cast + Suzy and Baekhyun “Dream” [video]

Ok so a lot happened today and yesterday. More than I imagined would happen so let’s get started!

SM Entertainment won their lawsuit against Tao claiming that he owed them money and he failed to pay it. They later responded to this win and so did Tao. Tao’s team responded by saying in short, SM Entertainment’s statement “did not coincide with the truth”. (basically they lied) And to protect Tao’s image for being destroyed by SM, they released the facts in chronological order. Honestly, this whole thing is dragging out longer than it should and frankly I’m tired of talking about it.

AfreecaTV BJ Selli got a lot of attention for her comments she made on her show recently. She said that it’s not fair for people to view her shows without paying. Of course, that was the nicer (and cleaner version) of what she said. She went on to say that people who try to view without paying should stop being “bums” and pay because they look like “fools” for not doing so. Viewers thought she was being harsh and went into full attack mode… on her. Lovely. (sarcasm intended)

In more shocking but not so shocking news… rumors have already begun to fly that KARA is officially disbanding. After the announcement that three of the members contracts were up with DSP Media, many people began to speculate the future of the group.

One media outlet went so far as to say that not only were they over but a couple of the members were about to go solo. DSP Media said, no, that’s not true.

“DSP Media refuted these rumors by telling media outlets that the original members’ contracts will not expire until the end of the month, and that nothing is decided yet. Furthermore, an executive staff member at Key East Entertainment responded to rumors that Goo Hara was joining the company, saying, ‘The meeting with Koo Hara was simply due to personal connections.'”

(source: koreaboo)

Of course this isn’t quelling the belief that the members are choosing to go solo. It’s being rumored that not only is Goo Hara likely to sign with Key East Entertainment but Youngji might be leaving as well. DSP released another statement saying, that’s not true either.

“On January 6, DSP Media affiliates told news source OSEN, ‘Rumors saying that Heo Youngji has started a solo project are not true. We plan to consider all possibilities and lead her in a better direction but we haven’t started anything yet. What we’re most concerned about is KARA right now. It’s not the time to think about Heo Youngji’s individual activities.'”

(source: soompi)

Usually when rumors like this start, it helps the group to gain enough exposure to stick it out. Hopefully that’s the case here.

Girls’ Generation Seohyun has been added to the cast of SBS’s new drama “Moon Lovers”. And netizens are starting to look at this as a potential idol drama. She’s joining Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, and Ji Soo and other idols EXO member Baekhyun and IU.

“While female songstress IU will be playing the female lead with Lee Jun Ki as the male lead, Seohyun’s role will be that of the princess, in particular, the last princess of the Later Baekj kingdom. Disguised as a dancer, she attracts the attention of many aristocrats but continues to remain to herself.”

(source: koreaboo)

Honestly, I think she’ll be fine. She’s in good company with this cast.

And speaking Baekhyun, have you heard his new song with Suzy?

That’s it for today’s Kpop Update!
