“Tuesday” Kpop Update | 4Minute Disbands, Statement + Jellyfish New Girl Group, Three Members from Produce 101 + Why Was I.O.I Edited Out of Dream Concert Broadcast?

Today is extremely rare right?! A blog post on a Tuesday! Your eyes are not deceiving you. This is really happening. And though I would’ve loved to have to started today on a good note, I have to say I’m a bit upset by the news today.

4Minute, one of my all-time favorite girl groups has decided to disband. It was bad enough that 2NE1 will never be the same but now 4Minute too??? Say it ain’t so!!

“As the contract end date approaches, the members have been in discussions for renewal, but while the agency tried to persuade them to continue the group, it ended up accepting the decision by the five members that they will not continue as a group.” The rep adds, “Due to the different opinion of the members, for all intents and purposes, the group will disband.”

(source: soompi)

It seems that Hyuna has actually decided to stay with Cube Entertainment however, it is uncertain whether the other members will also renew their contracts as solo artists.

It really makes me sad because I really thought they’d sign for another year or so but I guess it was time for them to go their separate ways. I wish them all the best even if this does pain me to say goodbye to 4Minute.

In the wake of 4Minute’s disbandment and a new girl group announcement from YG, Jellyfish has announced that they as well will be joining the fray and is in the process of introducing their own new girl group.

Surprise… Three of the members are from Produce 101!

On June 13th, Jellyfish Entertainment began teasing for their new girl group on their SNS accounts, writing, “Who is gx9? Kim Nayoung, Kim Sejeong, Kang Mina. Who is [the] next girl?” and posted what was most likely the girl group’s debut logo design.

(source: koreaboo)

Along with the teaser about gx9, they’ve released teasers for the first revealed members.

I’m pretty excited for this.

And finally, we get an answer from SBS about why I.O.I was edited out completely from the Dream Concert broadcast. The excuse?

SBS stated today, June 13 KST, “The reason why I.O.I was entirely edited out of the Dream Concert was because of the broadcast length. Other teams were also edited out. There was no malicious intent… “All performances were aired on SBS Plus, but on the main SBS channel, due to the TV programming schedule, a portion of the performances were inevitably cut out.”

(source: soompi)

Naturally fans were and still are outraged. I guess it makes sense but at the same time it doesn’t make sense. Everyone is kinda looking closely at I.O.I and considering the fact that they won’t be together long, I think after one year they’ll disband, it would make sense to me if they got a lot of airtime for the time being.

I don’t know about this one.

Monday Update | YG Ent. New Girl Group, Two Confirmed +”Produce 101″ Trainees Dropping Lawsuit + Jun Ji Hyun And Lee Min Ho Confirmed New SBS Drama

Ok so today has been really really busy!! If you don’t believe me, head over to twentythirdstation.tumblr.com to see more links of kpop/k-drama news. I couldn’t post it all here but I’ll talk about as much as I can.

RAIN’S “La Song” has made it back on the Chinese charts after two long years since its release. G-Friend’s Sin B has somehow managed to get into a world of trouble of an old photo that has begun circulating of her. Apparently, she’s flipping off the camera. Netz are saying that this is her alleged, “true nature”. (And I’m rolling my eyes.)

BIGBANG fans are calling for a boycott! They believe that, due to mismanagement of their recent activities, if they boycott their 2016 Soul Concert Live DVD it’ll send a message to their agency and hopefully changes will come with management and treatment. There list of grievances include, a busy schedule, lack of concern for the members health and a “lack of consideration over their image online or safety“.

I’m not sure how this will all turn out considering YG just announced that not only is there a potential comeback in the works, they’re also working on a new girl group!

“According to reports, the girl group will be produced by Teddy, and start revealing one member per week starting this week…. Yang Hyun Suk said they’ve practiced for a long time, so their skills are guaranteed. I trained them like they were my elite troops. They won’t really feel like the second 2NE1 because they have a different aura. I am a little nervous because they’re the first girl group in 7 years, but I’m also confident.”

(source: koreaboo)

So far, there are already two confirmed members to this new group, Kim Jisoo And Jennie Kim. The names may sound familiar as this has not only been circulating for a while that they may or may not be involved with this project and after a failed debut, it wasn’t looking possible, but now it looks the ladies will get their day in the sun/time to shine!

Produce 101 Trainees Lee Hae In and Lee Su Hyun made major headlines when they announced they would be filing a lawsuit against their agency SS Entertainment to terminate their exclusive contracts. They felt that the contracts were too extensive and they didn’t receive everything they were promised.

Well now, that lawsuit has been dropped.

“…[Lee Hae In and Lee Su Hyun]  have dropped their lawsuit against their agency regarding their contract after having reached a mutual agreement… The two girls’ representative and lawyer revealed on May 25th that the agency has agreed to terminate the girls’ contract without any additional conditions during a meeting just the day prior.

(source: koreaboo)

The statement released after this news broke by their representative went on to say that the two were apologetic to fans for “worrying them”.

Crisis averted?

And then there was k-drama news!!

It seems as though the kpop world has enough drama in it to keep your attention diverted from scripted dramas. (Because sometimes, life is far more entertaining than fiction)

Enter: Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho

The two have been officially confirmed for a new SBS drama that will be written by the same writers from the ever popular drama, “My Love From The Stars”. The drama was so popular that it has received international praise with an American adaptation in the works. With that type of credibility following these writers and with the caliber of acting ability that Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho both possess, this drama may very will be another smash hit for everyone involved.

“The drama, with the working title “Legend of the Blue Sea,” will star Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun, airing on SBS, Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting in November. It is slated to premiere after the end of “Incarnation of Envy.” The drama is a fantasy romance, taking its motif from the mermaid/merman story in Korea’s first historical (romance) storybook. In the Joseon-era storybook, it is recorded that real-life figure Kim Dam Nyeong returned mermaids/mermen that were caught fisherman back to the sea.”

(source: soompi)

And now that the rumors have been cleared and the two have been named official leads, it looks like it’s already picking up steam internationally. Chinese broadcasting companies are already looking to find someway to air the drama as well.

I’m so ready for this one!

Monday Kpop Update | Jellyfish Entertainment Statement on Leo and Ravi + BIGBANG Guerrilla Concert Cancelled, YG Statement + Jessica SBS Appearance Cancelled, SBS Statement

So this post is going to kinda be a kpop music update post. I had a post with way more information but of course WordPress automatically saves every few seconds and when the entire post got deleted, I lost everything soooooooooooooooooooooooo… let’s just get straight into the news.

No videos today but check back Wednesday!

With all the new music announcements and comeback news for the summer, the most exciting part is the concerts! Fans of VIXX were super excited, as they have been on tour this whole time… new music and concerts, VIXX is on a roll! But then in Mexico it was reported that Ravi collapsed and Leo was missing from the finale. Despite the reassurance from N that both parties were doing ok, fans were still worried.

Now today, Jellyfish Entertainment has issued a statement.

“The venue location’s high altitude and the heat of the performance hall caused [Ravi and Leo] to be dizzy and they could no longer continue [performing] on stage. Leo and Ravi received emergency medical treatment from the team that were standing by at the venue and are in the process of recuperating.”

(source: allkpop)

I’m sure the travelling hasn’t been much help either in terms of getting rest and staying healthy. However, it is good to know that they’re doing fine!

In other concert news, YG announced that BIGBANG’s guerrilla concert was not going to happen like expected. It was said about a week ago that BIGBANG would be performing a surprise pop-up concert. And now today YG said, in true YG fashion, “the show is cancelled”. But they later released a statement saying that they are working on something better.

“We want to let everyone know that we’re in the process of developing ideas so that fans can safely enjoy [Big Bang’s] ten-year anniversary.”

(source: allkpop)

I guess legions of screaming fans potentially causing a stampede in the middle of the street didn’t seem all that appealing in hindsight.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what they come up with!

And finally, Jessica has been sparking waves, good and bad lately. After releasing her first solo album since leaving SM Entertainment, fans were ready for her to begin music promotions. It was later reported that she wouldn’t be doing too much of that. After all, she is running a fashion line simultaneously with making music.

But then it was announced that even more of her appearances were either going to be cut short, or not happening. Like her now cancelled appearance on SBS’s Lee Kuk Ju’s Young Street.

“Jessica’s reps have said, “[Her appearance] was decided upon last Wednesday, and then her scheduled appearance was cancelled on the weekend. We haven’t heard the exact reason for the cancellation. She is very disappointed because she had been preparing to perform live…According to SBS, the radio show had first secured Jo Moon Geun Band as a guest on the show for the episode, and then invited Jessica… SBS states, “After some internal discussion, we decided to invite her to appear on her own next time instead, and asked Jessica’s representatives for their understanding.”

(source: soompi)

Looks like a serious misunderstanding there. Even though this isn’t the first time they seem to have had a misunderstanding with Jessica’s team, i.e., Inkigayo name removal incident, they are doing their best to make amends.

However, she will be appearing on another show, Park So Hyun’s Love Game May 28th.

Weekend Kpop Update | Actress Ji Ha Yoon Taking Action Against Stalker + Unauthorized SNSD Calendar Photoshops Pictures + WINNER “EXIT”Individual Teaser Taehyun + CNBLUE and CROSS GENE Comeback

This weekend was a really exciting one! For starters, congrats Gary for winning #1 on SBS’ Inkigayo. From what I understand, he never did promote for his new single so that’s pretty cool.

I would post a video… but he didn’t perform. So if you haven’t heard the song or seen the video, check it out below!

JYP also received an award. He was awarded “Most Influential Producer” at 2015 Weibo Awards!

And then there was the news about Actress Park Jin Young. She’s been stalked for a while relentlessly by a man who has posted personal information about her and even showed up to her home. Now, she’s taking action.

Young posted the stalker’s photos, name, age, and captures of the messages sent to her and she uploaded them on her instagram account.

It’s become too much that I’m going to report him. I’ve tried warning and ignoring him countless times and he said he will stop; but his stalking only got worse. I’ll show him that I’m not just using words as a warning. I upload this so that he will see it.”

(source: allkpop)

Fans have been wondering just how bad was his torment to make her go to this extreme and even going so far to criticize her for taking such action due to her popularity, or lack thereof according to them.

Personally, I’m glad she’s taking action but I do also hope she’s able to get some type of help from the police as far as protection for herself. Nobody how popular (or not popular) you are, stalking is very scary and very dangerous. It doesn’t just affect the person being stalked, it affects their families as well.

Good for her!

I found this story on koreaboo and thought it was absolutely insane! Apparently, an unauthorized calendar for Girls’ Generation was on sale and they manufacturers decided to use old pictures of SNSD, but they photoshopped Jessica out of them whenever they could… in very obvious ways.

And according to the tweet, that wasn’t the only noticeable change they made. Some months were left on touched but others were just obvious that they were trying to compensate for Jessica no longer being in the group.

Personally, don’t they think it would’ve made more sense to just leave it alone until they could get current pictures?

And then the comeback news! These are just a few of the exciting teasers released over the weekend!
