Kpop Update | “Running Man” Controversy Continues + Got7’s Jackson Begging Sasaengs “Leave Me Alone” Gone Viral + WINNER’s First Broadcast as Four Members + New Music

Alright, so I didn’t really want to title this “Weekend Update” because this was supposed to be on Wednesday. However, regardless of the day we’re going to get into all of this!

Starting with Running Man.

Everytime I hear something new about the cast of Running Man, I usually overlook it because it’s typically a lot of speculation. But with Gary shutting down his social media account after news broke following an announcement that Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook would be leaving the show, there might be some truth to what’s being said.

So what happened???

News broke that both Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook  would be leaving the show. The problem was, neither of them at the time were made aware of this. The show had announced it was going through changes, which is something each parties agencies acknowledged, however what they didn’t know was that this would include cast changes.

Song Ji Hyo’s Agency Statement:

“We knew Running Man would go through changes from SBS but it is true that we only found out from news reports which members would not be invited back. We do not want to comment on Song Ji Hyo’s feelings but it is not our official stance that it was not a good farewell. There is a definite road she needed to walk as an actress and considered leaving the show so it [seemed] natural to leave the show during the season-change. However, it is true there was a lack of active communication from the production crew in the steps leading up to Song Ji Hyo leaving the show. There is a lot of regret emotionally but as it is the production’s decision, we will humbly accept it.”

Kim Jong Kook’s Agency Statement:

“It is true that we were told about Kim Jong Kook leaving the show one-sidedly. It is regrettable. Even though Kim Jongkook was not in the best health condition, it was a program he really cared for and took part in.”

When did the two find out? The night of the report!

Now there’s speculation that Gary is responding to the news by cutting off his social media contact with all involved over slighting his friends. Of course this is purely speculation and nothing has been said to the affirmative, but it is interesting timing.

Gary has also unfollowed everyone on his Instagram account, previously following a total of 145 people. He also had 88 photos uploaded to his account prior to the purge. His last few posts were videos that were uploaded about 5 days ago.

Guess we’ll be following this story to see what happens…

Got7’s Jackson is also in the midst of a controversy that is taking the Got7 fandom by storm!

It is truly one thing to be surrounded with support and love by fans but it is another thing when that love and support becomes so overwhelming, it’s almost smothering. Jackson experienced this “smothering” love while in a Chinese airport recently. There’s a video from that experience that has fans all over outraged of Jackson begging on his knees for the sasaengs to leave him alone.

There’s another video of him asking fans to basically give him space, expressing how tired he is and asking them if he needs to get on his knees and beg. It was until after he literally gets on his knees begging and pleading that concerned fans begin to also plead with the others to leave him alone.

This comes on the heels of an incident, not too long ago, where fans actually forced him to crash his car when they were tailing him.

Seriously, this has gone too far.

In lighter news, WINNER has finally surfaced after being hidden away for a long time preparing for their comeback. But the moment is truly bittersweet seeing them now as a four member group instead of five. Earlier, it was reported that Taehyun would have to leave due to a medical condition making them a four member group officially.

On December 15th, WINNER greeted their fans through a live streaming broadcast. It was their first public activity with four members left in the lineup… The broadcast was done in conjunction with the statement by YG Entertainment that confirmed their comeback plans. The agency stated that WINNER and iKON are both preparing their albums, aimed to be released early next year.

It’s good to see that they will be making a return! And I’m sure we all wish Taehyun the very best and to get well soon.

Wednesday Kpop Update | CL Edition [video]

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do another one of these anytime soon but I’m back with a new kpop update. And just so know, this series is definitely coming back in full force next week! I’m not ignoring it anymore. I think I’ve taken enough time away from it and you’ve probably noticed by now. (Sorry tumblr!!) Don’t worry. Have no fear. It’s been revived!

So why am I focusing on CL?

As you all know, CL has been all over the place in the US. From concerts, live performances, fan meetings, interviews, chart topping new music… she’s everywhere! But… how much more exciting is it to hear of her experience from her own mouth? On this edition of CNN Style, they followed CL around her newfound city New York and listened to her talk about her experience.

Wednesday Kpop Update | JYP Talks Park Ji-Min, Comeback + YMC and I.O.I: Sexy Concept Misunderstanding, Says Agency + VIXX “Fantasy” Teaser Comeback + New Music Videos

There is a lot to talk about today in the world of kpop. With the rumors of dating and new actors on the horizon, sometimes it is just so good to hear some kpop news that we’ve been waiting on.

To for example, 4Minute, everyone has been waiting patiently to see what was going to happen with the rest of the members. Afterall, we all knew that HyunA was going to make a solo comeback, but what about everyone else? Well, the news is out and it’s official, Jiyoon is prepping for her solo debut! She recently signed with a new agency, JS E&M, and they’ve put together a team to build her new image and new solo music. Jiyoon’s solo comeback date is scheduled for October.

BLACKPINK, YG’s new girl group, made their official debut this week and I have to agree with everyone else when I say this, they are really good! The ladies gave their first interview after debuting saying that they were “nervous” and working hard on creating their own signature color. Some fans have been drawing comparisons to previous YG groups like 2NE1 and even BIGBANG, but this is what they have to say.

YG’s Yang Hyun Suk shared his thoughts about BLACKPINK and 2NE1. “We didn’t try too hard to create a difference between BLACKPINK and 2NE1. It was the same when we created 2NE1. YG has its own unique sound so we focused on making the music sound the most like us,” he explained… He continued to say, “There is no leader. They have been friends for so long that having a leader is impossible. All four members can be leaders.”

As a fan of 2NE1 I have to say, while I watched their debut music videos, I could draw some similarities but overall, they are truly their own group with the classic YG sound. I loved watching them and can’t wait to hear the debut single album, “SQUARE ONE” which was released on the 8th!

And since we’re talking about comeback news, one of my all-time favorite solo artists Park Ji-Min is about to make her own solo comeback! After releasing the single “Hopeless Love”, she disappeared for a while. She did a few songs with 15& but we weren’t given any new official solo music. Now, JYP says, that’s about to change very soon.

On August 10, JYP Entertainment announced, “Park Ji Min is planning to make a comeback mid-August with a new song. She’s in the final stages of preparation.”

(source: allkpop)

This is great news! I can’t wait to hear her new music!

When it was announced that I.O.I’s comeback was going to be different than before, many people began to speculate what they could possibly be planning. And then teasers began to slip and fans went crazy! The net-o-sphere blew up with comments that the ladies were gonna go with a “sexy” concept. Even I fell for it…

And then YMC said… “Umm what?”

“This unit’s concept is not ‘sexy,’” a source from the agency says. “We didn’t emphasize sexiness at all, so we don’t know why we’re receiving this kind of response… Rather than sexiness, we wanted to emphasize the charisma [the girls] can display on stage and their girl crush charm,” the source continues. “This will definitely be a performance that differs from the previous ‘unique’ concept [for ‘Dream Girls].”

(source: soompi)

After listening to the new song, “Whatta Man” and watching the video I realized, it wasn’t meant to be sexy at all. I actually got the look they were going for before I read this and I have to say, I like their concept better than the rumors. The song samples the 90’s R&B song “Whatta Man” by En Vogue/Salt-N-Pepa. And though I remember when the original came out, (even though I was a little kid I do remember the song), I did like their take on it and I like the concept they chose to go with it.

And then there was VIXX…

We have been waiting tirelessly for a VIXX comeback. Or at least I have… and the teaser photos and announcements were just making me anxious. And then, this happened.

The video has been released on Naver but some kind soul decided to upload it to YouTube. Because for some reason, no matter how hard I tried to share it from Naver here it just wouldn’t work. However, I don’t know how long it’ll be up there but for the time being, you can watch it here.

I’m excited and can not wait for the new music!

That’s all for the Wednesday Kpop Update. And now for some new music!

Wednesday Kpop Update | Korean-American Actress Amy Deported Back to U.S. + Sulli Instagram Hacked + April “Muah!” Video

On this day in the world of kpop:

Rain decided to postpone his official comeback onto the music scene. Why? Well he wants to release a quality album and feels the December deadline just isn’t giving him enough time to do that. So when he does make a comeback, the music is going to be top notch! Meanwhile, he’s on tour.

Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha recently said during an interview on “Radio Star” that being a sunbae in the music industry is hard work! When they go to music shows, they’re greeted by hundreds of hoobae and they can’t even go to the restroom. Of course they release it’s a lot on them as well. The hosts joked with her though teaching her a “faster” approach.

LOEN Entertainment has been investing in CUBE Entertainment. Apparently, this has been a move that has been in the making under the radar. Despite the acquisition, don’t expect to see much of a change in the name or in the artists.

TaeTiSeo is preparing for a winter comeback and have released teasers, group and individual.

In less thrilling news…

Korean-American actress Amy has lost her battle in South Korea. After being fined for the illegal drug use of Zolpidem, she was sentenced to deportation. This ruling came as a result of a previous charge where she was caught with the drug Propofol. After that ruling, she agreed that if she was ever caught breaking the law again, she’d be deported. And now, the court is making her stick to her agreement.

“The Immigration Office allowed Amy to stay in Korea after receiving a law-abiding covenant from her that said, “I will not object against being deported if I disobey the law again” twice. The law allows the deportation of foreigners if they are sentenced to imprisonment due to crimes such as handling drugs.

(source: soompi)

After having her case dismissed, she expressed serious grief saying: “I don’t know if I even have the energy to live on… This is tormenting me because regardless of what the papers say, I have always lived my life believing I am Korean.” Also saying in her statement that if she wanted to live as an American, she simply wouldn’t have left.

Many people are seeing her comments and telling her that she actually brought this on herself and they don’t feel sorry for her. Personally, I can understand why she would be grieved. She has a life in Korea and family and friends there too. It can’t be easy to leave a place where you want to stay.

It should also be noted that both drugs are legal in the U.S. and are used as anti-depressants as well to treat insomnia.

It gets better Amy.

Sulli got an earful as well.

Apparently, she was hacked. And the hacker only took down one photo which was a promotion photo for f(x)’s comeback. She quickly took to instagram to let everyone know, it wasn’t her fault. She even showed proof that she was in fact hacked.

As usual, fans weren’t buying it and called her out on her bluff. Interestingly enough, a lot of the ones commenting and attacking her may not have even been f(x) fans. She did, however, receive some support from an unlikely source… netizens.

[+128, -31] 걍 Can’t they all just go each other’s ways? I used to feel sorry for f(x) fans but now I don’t. She left why would you go to her instagram and check to chew her out ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+86, -100] Man f(x) fans make me want to defend Sulli ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

(source: koreaboo)

Change that password Sulli!

And finally…

APRIL’s new video, “Muah!”
