In lieu of a Foreign Language Tip post, since it won’t be back until October – November, I’ve decided to make this day “skincare/make-up” tutorial posts from… your favorite kpop idols and 네이버Naver celebs! Just for now, I think I’ll alternate between the two. And just a note, none of this is sponsored. I’m nowhere near popular enough for that! hahaha!
Personally, I know some people are actually interested in the products you personally use when you make these types of posts so I’ll tell you. My product list has changed dramatically after a really bad break-out these last two weeks so I’m hopeful that this will work. I use Neutrogena’s hydrating eye cream, witch hazel for toner, Neutrogena’s cleansing foam, and noxema for my acne. Not in that order. Though none of these products will be in the video, I’m sure you may find some that are useful. I definitely will be picking up a product or two after seeing this.
For those of us who love surfing through the web and YouTube to find new and different beauty tutorials, we usually seek out vloggers who are pretty well known. Ever so often we stumble across a new beauty guru who may introduce us to new techniques or products that we have never heard of before or show us a way to use what we already have more effectively.
But what about those vloggers who just so happen to be… Rainbow’s Jisook or maybe even SISTAR’s Bora? You never know who you’ll find on the net! I found this article on Soompi and I thought it was super cute and had to share it. Click the link to see the 10 other idol beauty gurus!
I debated on what to make this post…
I didn’t want to do another Weekend Kpop Update. With my internet pretty much down and I’m forced to use other means like my tablet or cell phone to blog, I didn’t really want to fight with the tabs and skipping and glitching that comes from trying to do too many things on portable devices.
And then it hit me… I haven’t highlighted a beauty vlogger in a while and thus my search began and landed on… PONY makeup. I don’t know why but I feel as if I’ve talked about her before. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen her videos from time to time. After watching her video, “Singapore Trip ‘get ready with me'” and then seeing all of her other videos and pictures (instagram| @ponysmakeup), I officially decided… it’s time to follow her. I think most of her videos are subbed but if you are new to her videos like me, check them out!
And for those learning Korean, watch the videos without the subs to see how much you understand and then turn the subs on to see if you were accurate or close.
Ok so I know I have a lot of beauty vloggers and bloggers who follow TwentyThirdStation… (Heyyy!!!) I feel like I neglect you guys way too much with these posts. (미안하다!!!) I’m really trying hard to fix that.
Moving along... for those of you who love make-up like me, I would like to introduce you to another one of my favorite make-up gurus. I shared a post a few months back about another one of my faves. (She’s mostly on the V app) But if you don’t have the V app and looking for inspiration, there’s meejmuse! She’s an Aussie-Korean make-up vlogger and she’s pretty massively popular. I like watching her tutorials but I especially like her make-up hauls.
Particularly this one…
I don’t get the chance to experiment much with make-up brands. I have to find what works for my face and doesn’t cause a breakout and then I kinda just stick with it until the time arises for me to try something new. But I love watching/reading posts on make-up hauls because they usually give me an idea of what brands to try. I will be honest, I never really thought to research Korean brands and then search through Sephora for them. But that is my new homework assignment!
(Any reason to go shopping in Sephora is a good reason.)
