Wednesday Kpop Update | 9MUSES Returns with 4 Members + Seohyun Solo Debut Rumors, SM Responds + Yuna Kim And Jeon Min Joo, No Longer with The Ark + Music Videos

Okay so I debated about during a full kpop post or just posting videos and then I remembered, I’ve been slacking a bit with kpop posts. I think subconsciously I’m trying to move away from doing them and just focus on other things now.

We’ll see what happens.

In the meantime, 9Muses announced that they will in fact be making a comeback but the line-up has definitely changed. They are now going to be four members.

On July 11, Star Empire Entertainment said that the unit has finished recording, and is aiming for a return early August. Star Empire said, “Member Kyungri has been confirmed as one of the four. The rest of the members will be revealed one at a time through promotions.”

9Muses was previously known as one of the larger girl groups with nine members and steadily becoming smaller to the now six member group. With only Kyungri confirmed, I’m curious to see who the other three will be and what this means for their music. Will they go in a new direction entirely?

With Tiffany and Taeyeon making their solo careers, it is only natural that fans of SNSD will likely assume that eventually all them will do so. And apparently, fans had their sights set of seeing Seohyun make a solo debut. It makes sense. Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun made up the sub-unit, TaeTiSeo so why not?

SM says, because the timing isn’t now.

On July 13, a source from SM Entertainment denied that any concrete plans have been made. “Nothing has been determined with regards to Seohyun’s solo album release,” the source says.

(source: soompi)

Honestly that doesn’t mean that nothing will be done for her, but it’s not saying anything will be either. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see on this one.

The Ark has been pretty quiet lately. For a while, I was starting to think that they would stop producing anything at all. And now they’ve returned to the news but not for the reason I was hoping for.

It’s been officially announced that Yuna Kim and Jeon Min Joo have officially left The Ark. And apparently, they left two months ago!

A source from Music K Entertainment stated to OSEN, “With respect to their individual music styles, we have cancelled the contracts.”

Well… I wish them both the best. I wonder what they happen with the remaining members.

“Tuesday” Kpop Update | 4Minute Disbands, Statement + Jellyfish New Girl Group, Three Members from Produce 101 + Why Was I.O.I Edited Out of Dream Concert Broadcast?

Today is extremely rare right?! A blog post on a Tuesday! Your eyes are not deceiving you. This is really happening. And though I would’ve loved to have to started today on a good note, I have to say I’m a bit upset by the news today.

4Minute, one of my all-time favorite girl groups has decided to disband. It was bad enough that 2NE1 will never be the same but now 4Minute too??? Say it ain’t so!!

“As the contract end date approaches, the members have been in discussions for renewal, but while the agency tried to persuade them to continue the group, it ended up accepting the decision by the five members that they will not continue as a group.” The rep adds, “Due to the different opinion of the members, for all intents and purposes, the group will disband.”

(source: soompi)

It seems that Hyuna has actually decided to stay with Cube Entertainment however, it is uncertain whether the other members will also renew their contracts as solo artists.

It really makes me sad because I really thought they’d sign for another year or so but I guess it was time for them to go their separate ways. I wish them all the best even if this does pain me to say goodbye to 4Minute.

In the wake of 4Minute’s disbandment and a new girl group announcement from YG, Jellyfish has announced that they as well will be joining the fray and is in the process of introducing their own new girl group.

Surprise… Three of the members are from Produce 101!

On June 13th, Jellyfish Entertainment began teasing for their new girl group on their SNS accounts, writing, “Who is gx9? Kim Nayoung, Kim Sejeong, Kang Mina. Who is [the] next girl?” and posted what was most likely the girl group’s debut logo design.

Along with the teaser about gx9, they’ve released teasers for the first revealed members.

I’m pretty excited for this.

And finally, we get an answer from SBS about why I.O.I was edited out completely from the Dream Concert broadcast. The excuse?

SBS stated today, June 13 KST, “The reason why I.O.I was entirely edited out of the Dream Concert was because of the broadcast length. Other teams were also edited out. There was no malicious intent… “All performances were aired on SBS Plus, but on the main SBS channel, due to the TV programming schedule, a portion of the performances were inevitably cut out.”

(source: soompi)

Naturally fans were and still are outraged. I guess it makes sense but at the same time it doesn’t make sense. Everyone is kinda looking closely at I.O.I and considering the fact that they won’t be together long, I think after one year they’ll disband, it would make sense to me if they got a lot of airtime for the time being.

I don’t know about this one.

Wednesday Kpop Music Update | 9Muses Future Plans After Member Departures + Younha, HA:TFELT, And Cheetah Collab + I.O.I Album Plans + New Music (Yes… EXO)

Ok so there’s a lot that happened in the comeback world… aka EXO is back!! But before we get to that, let’s talk some girl group news.

9Muses is dealing with something that many groups seem to be dealing with early this year and that’s the departure of members. It has been announced that Euaerin and Minha have “graduated from the group”.

So what now?

“Currently we have no plans to add new members to 9MUSES… 9MUSES is currently busy working on a new song that will be released in July. The members are preparing for unit group promotions and specific details concerning it will be decided soon.”

(source: soompi)

I think that’s good. Too many times when members leave, they’re replaced and then people are feeling some kind of disconnect because, “who are these people??” There are too many comparisons being made and I just feel like the only time this is okay to do is when it’s early on in the group’s creation. For example, Red Velvet. They added members and it worked because they were still pretty new. Now everybody is used to the change and can still connect with the group.

9Muses has been around for a while, adding new people will just not mesh well in my opinion. Leave it as it is! Can’t wait for the new album!

Younha, HA:TFELT, And Cheetah are working on a collaboration!!! I’m so excited! This is a collab featuring three of my favorite artists and I have a feeling this is going to be good. And if the teasers are any indication of what this track is gonna sound like, this is gonna be really good!

The song will be released in just one week on June 13th!

I.O.I has finally revealed their album plans! We’ve been waiting for a long time to hear when this album is going to come out and what will it sound like and though we don’t have a definite answer on the sound, we do have some more details on the date.

“According to YMC Entertainment on June 7, I.O.I’s unit group plans to release an album some time between late July to the first week of August… We are trying to pick the songs carefully. The nominees for the album’s title song have been confirmed, but they’re still in the demo stage. We will add lyrics to them and choose the best one that fits with the members’ images.”

(source: soompi)

The majority of the ladies will be participating in this album. DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon and Kim Sejeong and Kang Mina won’t be in that mix apparently. I’m not surprised. They have other groups to promote with and other music to work on with different obligations and in my mind they were doing the show a favor anyway as far as ratings were concerned. I was one of those people that didn’t really understand why they were participating but I digress.

And now the moment you’ve been waiting for…

Kpop Music Update | INFINITE’s Woohyun Solo Debut Teaser +JYP Entertainment Hologram Concert Announcement + Cube Boy Group “PENTAGON” and Possibly Jino Included + New Music Videos

Ok so this week in kpop news, there’s been so much happening that it literally was taking me forever to narrow down what was something I wanted to highlight. A lot of stuff got put on twentythirdstation.tumblr.com so let’s talk about these stories!

INFINITE’s Woohyun is taking the internet by storm and by finally making that long-awaited solo debut with the new song, “Write”. Many fans are jumping for joy because this has truly been the moment they’ve been waiting on.

It’s been confirmed that the official debut will be on May 9th.

JYP also made a big announcement when they dropped the news that they will be having a Hologram Concert featuring Wonder Girls, GOT7, and 2PM. I was a bit confused at first about this concert and how they would do this… and then I remembered, this technology is nothing new. (There’s a huge J-pop star who just so happens to be a hologram.)

“On April 26, JYP shared information about their upcoming JYP Nation concert via Twitter. However, instead of holding a live concert over a weekend or two, the entertainment giant has opted to hold a hologram concert instead. By using the hologram technology, the concert is able to have an open run, making it more accessible to fans whose schedules are not easily accommodated.”

This event will be held at the hologram theatre at K-Live in Seoul.

I know by now you’ve heard a lot about the new boy band, PENTAGON that CUBE Ent is producing right? Well, even though a lot has been said about them we don’t exactly know who they are. That’ll change on May 2nd with the new reality show airing “Pentagon Maker” which will not only announce the members but also show off their skills. They’ll be showcasing singing and rap, dance, teamwork, talent (which could be anything), and character individually and in units.

But maybe one member may have already been revealed…

We already know that former SM Trainee Jino has been with CUBE Ent but now it’s being rumored that he may be joining the new group.

“Jino debuted as a member of SM Entertainment’s project group SM the Ballad in 2010, although he only participated in promotions for the first mini album “Miss You.” He then returned to civilian life, having given up on being a trainee until he was approached by Cube Entertainment. Now he is set to debut in the agency’s new boy group Pentagon.”

Nothing is confirmed yet but we’ll see on May 2nd!
