Weekend Kpop Update | B.I on Running Man + iKON vs. Shinhwa Orange Fandom Color + Haha Considering Action Against Impersonators

This weekend was really eventful! For starters, 4Minute announced that not only are they making a comeback with Skrillex but it’s scheduled to be early 2016. Actor Yoo Jae Suk surprised fans by making an appearance on Reply 1988. Unfortunately, all news wasn’t good news as fandoms erupted into debates over Road Boyz behavior on Music Bank. They kinda blocked EXO from view.

I will say, my favorite news of the day was all about B.I on Running Man. iKON’s B.I showed off his charismatic dance moves on to impress Song Ji Hyo. And apparently, it worked!

Hilarious! Good thing he’s a good dancer…

But speaking of iKON… Orange is the New… Battlecry?

iKON and Shinhwa fandoms have been busy this weekend talking about the significance of the color orange. And now, Shinhwa’s Eric , Junjin, and Kim Dong Wan have something to say about it too.

Beginning first with Eric and Junjin, who both took out their aggression on their SNS accounts.

“Hoobaenims, orange has been Shinhwa Changjo’s color since ’98 when we debuted. Please avoid orange if possible. Let’s meet next year when we promote. From Shinhwa’ Eric.”

and

I think it’s safe to say they feel pretty strongly about this matter. But it was Kim Dong Wan’s response to the ordeal that really stood out to me. In a statement recently released as a letter he says that he’s apologetic for all the misbehavior that has happened surrounding this incident and that even though they don’t own the color orange, it is something that they wish to be respected as part of their journey.

Here’s an excerpt of the letter:

“I sincerely apologize for all sexually harassing comments that were directed towards junior groups from accounts connected to the name of Shinhwa or Shinhwa Changjo, no matter what the reason or where they originated from… Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo have to spend this short time together passionately and warmly. I sincerely hope that there won’t be any obstacles in the way of us spending this time together… We aren’t hoping for admiration. We are just hoping that a few of the things we have protected during our long time together will be respected. Those things are Shinhwa and Shinhwa Changjo, and the sea of orange lights that we see when we’re on stage. Respect for us will return in kind to you and to your heroes on stage.”

(source: soompi)

He also said in his letter that they will be making a comeback soon with “The Return”. This is their first time promoting in a while and it won’t be a long promotion, but it would be nice for the short while that they are promoting to see that sea of orange and know that it’s for them.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask for honestly.

I did originally think that iKON’s color was like a red-ish-orange-ish-white color. I wasn’t sure their fandom even had an official color yet. Guess I’m behind on that one!

And finally, Haha. He definitely wasn’t playing around when it told the last impersonators that he would be taking some type of action in the future if they continued to pretend to be him online.

And now, someone has tried it yet again and he is letting them know, he’s not playing around.

“To the person who is impersonating me I’m now going to be taking action against you without any warnings.”

This could be legal action but we will see soon.

Tuesday Kpop Update | BIGBANG Not Attending Ceremonies… For Good Reason + Davichi and Jay Park “White” Cover + April “Snowman” Teaser

It seems the kpop world has been in full swing for the holidays. With iKON’s Bobby and B.I joining 2NE1’s Dara on “Happy Together” Christmas special and the new teasers for winter albums, it is literally holiday season in the kpop world.

And speaking of Holidays, BIGBANG is taking one! You may have heard the news that they won’t be in attendance for the year end music ceremonies and it may have been upsetting, but have no fear they will keep all promises made.

“The Big Bang members feel very sorry towards the fans as they are not able to attend the end of the year music award ceremonies. But they are keeping their promise to fans and have chosen to make a great effort in composing their ‘MADE’ full album. In order to gift the fans with a perfected album even a day earlier, they are focusing completely on composing night and day even through the holidays.”

So not only are they taking a break but they will also be working on album.

Enjoy your break you guys. You definitely earned it!

Davichi and Jay Park are joining together to release a classic, Fin.K.L′s ′White′. The release date is at 12 pm KST and I can’t wait to hear it!

It’s been announced that April is also getting ready to release a new winter album, “Snowman”. The official release date is on December 21st!

The teaser is super cute and I can’t wait to hear their new release.

And random surprise!

Cheetah released a teaser for her upcoming song, “Star Wars”. Check it out below!

Monday Kpop Update | Taeyeon Reality Show on OnStyle + B.A.P MATO PUZZLE Hidden Message + iKON Plagiarism Scandal

Today was a pretty busy day. SECRET celebrated their 6th year anniversary with the release of “For Sixth Time”. iKON gave an interview with Bobby talking about a new death experience and Bobby telling everyone whether “Show Me The Money 4” win was more important to him than his group debut or vice versa. (Obviously, the group debate was more important.) There’s also the recent discovery that OH MY GIRL’s choreography for “Closer” actually was in the shape of astrology signs and now there’s news that there’s a science to why people just look better with shorter hair.

But there were a few things today that stood out to me. Starting with Taeyeon’s new reality show. That’s right! Not only has she branched out on her own solo music career but she’s also expanding that solo empire through OnStyle.

OnStyle confirmed with TVReport, “Taeyeon has recently been filming for ‘Taengoo Cam’. The format or time and such have not been decided yet.”

(source: allkpop)

This is pretty exciting for her because this will ultimately help build her solo fan base. Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be anymore Girls’ Generation tv but for now the focus is on Taeyeon until the group makes their comeback.

This story was actually really fascinating. Why? Because B.A.P, in preparation for their comeback on November 15th has released a secret message to their fans through this Mato Puzzle!

But what’s the message?

According to TS Entertainment, the Mato Puzzle has messages the members want to deliver to their fans, as well as information about their new album. The passwords inside the puzzle will be revealed at intervals until the comeback date.

(source: soompi)

Fans have already started deciphering the crossword puzzle. And it seems that these hidden messages are names, encouragement to fans, and previous song titles. Interesting.

And the last story of today was a bit upsetting to me. Just a little. iKON was featured back in the news today and it was honestly for reasons I didn’t expected. Apparently, they’ve been called out for plagiarizing to the bike company Unknown Bike co Korea’s logo. They posted a picture on their official facebook asking fans if the logos looked similar and saying that even other people said it looked similar but they weren’t going to sue about it.

Well, YG responded.

In the post below they explain that the concept for iKON’s logo had been in the works since 2014 and even showed proof of it. Here’s a snippet of their full statement released on their facebook. (loose translation)

YG NEXT CREATOR Channel.

“In 2014, the brand’s design team YG
The planning and design completed results.
Detailed schedule below.

The public part of the information together planning.

This led Unknown Bike co Korea to retract their original statement and say in short, “it was a misunderstanding” and telling the fans to just see this as two companies having a creative dispute and it was nothing serious. They just wanted to know how they created iKON’s logo and when it was created. And they even apologized for any damage this may have caused.

That’s the quickest plagiarism fight I’ve ever seen. Person accused of plagiarism. Person responds. Accuser acknowledges response and apologies for inconvenience. The End. No lawsuit. No dragged out unnecessary bickering online with public statement after public statement.

Good talk. Glad that was resolved quickly.

Wednesday Kpop Update | EXID Might Work With Banana Project + OH MY GIRL “Closer” + Minzy Dance Teaser for Studio + NONAGON x iKON

Today was an interesting day in the kpop world. Less stressful than the last few days. With Taeyeon’s new solo debut along with the big reveal that her older brother made a cameo appearance in her “I” MV at the 2:41-2:44 mark (He’s the guy at the bar) and couple’s announcements and spottings, today was pretty peaceful. Maybe not 100% peaceful but it was close enough.

Rumors began swirling a couple of days ago about EXID joining Banana Project, which is a Chinese agency. I didn’t say anything about it then because there was nothing concrete just yet and I didn’t want to contribute to the rumor mill. However, today there was a statement released from EXID’s agency addressing this very rumor. They explained in detail that they want to introduce EXID into China and the success of “Up and Down” in China is showing that there is a market for them there.

(statement excerpt)

“It is true that we have met with the executives of Banana Project for the possibility of working together in the future. However, at this moment, nothing has been decided and there are no concrete plans… In order to provide EXID a safe plan for their entrance into the Chinese market, we had met with the officials of Banana Project. Unfortunately, Chinese media had misunderstood our meeting. Again, nothing has been decided yet.”

(source: soompi)

This is great news! It’s definitely a good start for them and I hope they find an agency in China to partner up with so they can expand!

Speaking of expansion and buzz. Minzy is getting everyone even more excited for her dance studio. She took to instagram to release two videos from her studio of a solo dance.

Song please?! She looks great and this looks like it’s going to be amazing. I’m so excited for her!

And since we’re on the topic of exciting news, OH MY GIRL released this very amazingly epic comeback teaser theme of a fantasy land. Everyone was hoping that the comeback itself would match up to this theme. It was something that was so creative and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it done quite like this before with the movie poster teasers of a fairytale world.

But check out the album cover!

And the song “Closer”… I love it! Definitely goes in line with the teasers. It all blended perfectly. I think I might be a new fan.

A teaser was released of iKON modeling YG’s clothing line NONAGON. And let me say, I have to wonder if this line was created with a group like them in mind because they definitely make these clothes look like they were born to be worn by iKON.
