Weekend Kpop Update | I.O.I Yoojung Parody of “Very Good”, Zico Responds + “Goblin” Delay, Creators Statement + Gary and Gil Ready to Split?

So, usually the netisphere is buzzing with different things that I couldn’t begin to predict happening, but it’s been unusually quiet. Or maybe, I just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, it’s been a lot of good news!

Suga has returned to BTS following an injury. He was noticeably absent from some promotions and the end of the year performance but have no fear, he has returned and is ready for their comeback in the future!

I.O.I’s Yoojung is also having a good and interesting week! Her parody of Zico’s “Very Good” was extremely well received by the fans but also by Zico himself. After the show aired, he responded to it saying simply,

I was watching and I was surprised to see my own stage parody. Yoojung copied me better than myself. She managed to be cute at the same time, so I enjoyed watching it.”

If you’re a fan of the show “Goblin”, you may have been wondering what the hold up was! There was this amazing moment and a cliffhanger and everyone was waiting to see what was going to happen next, with three episodes left annnnnnnnnnnnnnddd… the next episode cancelled and replaced by a special episode, “All Days Were Good”.

So what happened????

The producers say… they wanted the graphics to look right. While debunking all the popular rumors and wide-spread speculations, they gave a really valid reason.

“..While is it true we had a hectic filming schedule; when we reached the middle episodes, we didn’t have any problems filming the rest… The delay is partly due to our PD’s ambitious goals. The last 3 episodes are going to be full of bright colors, as they will be focusing on a lot of the magical and fantastical aspects of the storyline. Thus, we are planning on using a lot of computer graphics, which requires a little more time. We don’t want the computer graphics to look tacky, so we’re focusing entirely on improving the visuals so that it can live up to the name of being a fantasy drama.”

Honestly, I think that’s a better way to end a show. I’d much rather it be a late airing and look good then to be thrown together and trash. Sooooooooooooo many good dramas have gone that route and it’s always super disappointing and upsetting.

Quality over quantity any day!

It’s being reported that the Leessang company is about to split up due to Gary and Gil wanting to pursue solo career paths. They’ve already started their own solo labels, Magic Mansion and Yangbans Nation, but is this really happening? Will Leessang break up too?

Leessang Company, owned by Leessang’s Gil and Gary, are currently in the process of closing their business, and have already enlisted their building up for sale. January 13, according to an insider in the industry, Leessang Company’s employees have not been working since last year, and the company’s building is currently on the market priced at 9 billion won since January 11.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens but honestly, this is super upsetting.

Wednesday Kpop Update | CUBE Entertainment Releases Statement on Fake SNS Accounts for CLC + Teen Top Announces a Solo and Group Comeback + MAMAMOO Covers Top English Songs

Surprise!!

Fake accounts are a favorite past time for many people on social media. Some are parody accounts of a living person or an inanimate object. And then there are the fake sns accounts that are perpetrating as the real deal. The issue has gotten so bad for particular group kpop group that their label had to step in on their behalf!

What group? CUBE Entertainment’s girl group, CLC.

They released a statement saying:

“…Below are the official url addresses for both CLC and Cube social media accounts.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/cubeclc
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CLC.UnitedCube/

Please note with the exception of the listed links above, all other Twitter and Facebook pages belong to impersonated accounts. Such unauthorized accounts masquerading as official like on Instagram and many others are not organized by CLC or Cube Entertainment…”

(full statement here at allkpop)

I guess it’s probably time to stop now for all those doing it. The account is going to get shut down sooner or later.

Solo artists and group comebacks can be the highlight of any year. And that’s no exception for the latest announcement from Teen Top! Prepare yourselves, Niel’s solo comeback is on the way and so is a group comeback!

And finally, MAMAMOO is one of those groups that can remake a song and have you just completely in love with their version. They have the ability to make any song all their own. But what if there were 7 of these songs? Apparently, MAMAMOO has recorded covers to 7 top charting songs in English. Songs like, John Legend’s “All of You”, Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, Stooshe’s “Love Me”, and a few others. I won’t post all the videos here, but you can listen to their covers at this link on koreaboo.

Wednesday Music Update | Star Empire New Girl Group with Chae Eun and Hyeri + AOA “Good Luck” MV Edited? + Jessica Says She Didn’t Leave SNSD for Money Despite Rumors + New Music (Videos)

This week’s kpop news has been a mixture of good and exciting news and even kinda bad news.

Starting with Sulli… I know I know, eye rolls right? Apparently, the singer’s instagram account has been deleted. Even though many people are excited about this, it is a bit concerning. She is known for her “out there” posts and selcas and now it’s all gone. Many are beginning to speculate that it could be a hack. It’d be a shame if all the rumors and criticism drove her to delete her own personal account.
OH MY GIRL has announced that they will be making a comeback a lot sooner than you think. How soon? Try May 26th soon! The repackaged album will be titled “Windy Day” and it’ll be released at midnight. (Well that was sudden…) Fiestar is also getting ready for a comeback that’s literally happening now KST. The teaser photo was released to get all the fans ready for their new upcoming single “Apple Pie” which will be released May 31st at midnight. CLC and EXID are both throwing their hats into the comeback ring as they prepare for their June season. This is looking like a pretty exciting summer!

SNSD’s Tiffany will be making waves as she announced that she will be holding her first solo concert, “Weekend – Tiffany” which will run, Jun 10th-12th at SMTOWN Coex Atrium. The announcement was made through SM’s “The Agit” concert show

Moving to another agency that’s been stirring up a lot of buzz in the kpop world… Star Empire and their soon-to-be girl group!

Star Empire may seem familiar to you as it is home to trainees Chae Eun and Hyeri, “Produce 101” trainees. Well now it seems that these two are the first confirmed members of the upcoming girl group which will have around five to seven members according to Star Empire.

“According to reports on May 18, Star Empire has decided that the upcoming girl group will have five to seven members. The confirmed members of the girl group so far are Han Hyeri, Shim Chae Eun, and two other Star Empire trainees.”

The group is set to begin promotion as soon as all the members have been confirmed.

AOA’s “Good Luck” music video has been facing some heavy speculation after the video was removed shortly after being posted before being re-ploaded with corrections. Product placement was blurred out, specifically the Toyota and Honda logos. Many fans began saying that this problem due to the controversy surrounding the members inability to identify An Jung Geun, who fought for Korean independence for Japanese colonial rule.

But FNC Entertainment says, “No, that’s not the reason at all!”

“Excluding the vehicles, we admit that other products in the music video were included as product placement. The vehicles, however, were merely borrowed due to the local situation and we had no intention to show [the brand]… We hope that there will be no misunderstandings regarding the vehicles and brand product placement.”

Well there you have it folks! Historical controversy crisis averted!

And finally, Jessica Jung!

Jessica recently made a “not so surprise” comeback and released two music videos “Fly” and “Love Me The Same” from her new EP “With Love, J”. But even with all the good news surrounding her latest releases and fashion line, people are starting to trudge up new and old rumors. One of which, Jessica personally addressed in an interview Sports Chosun.

“This is business. You have to invest and reinvest into it and grow it gradually in order to spread the brand. That’s why you cannot earn money right away. I really have not made any money so far.”

(source: allkpop)

This, of course, comes after the news that her new song “Fly” was banned from KBS due to another incident of product placement. I’m sure this won’t make the rumors go away but at least we’ve heard her side of the story.

CLC | Draws Criticism for Actions Toward BTOB on “CLC Queen’s Game”

Ok so I saw the video. And I have to say, I get it but I don’t think it’s being taken in the right way. Here’s the story, BTOB made an appearance on CLC’s, “CLC Queen’s Game”. The idea was for the two group to work together to complete group activities, play various games and for BTOB to kinda coach CLC in how to act on variety shows. Or, how to perform well on variety shows.

The controversial moment began when Chanseob asked them to show their individual talents. Ye Eun then claims that she can do aegyo. Now, mind you, during this time she has a water bottle. Chanseob tells her to not do aegyo but to do something funny with her water bottle. What follows in the video below sparked the controversial moment.

Many fans are pretty much divided over this. There are some who are saying that they need to learn how to treat and respect their seniors.

[ +314 / -3] I think they have to really be careful;;; I think they’re going to cause something greater soon? BEAST, 4Minute, Apink, and BTOB were all rumored to be nice but these girls need to be more cautious

[ +83 / -] After watching the video, this is not how they should treat their elder artists even if they’re in the same agency. When I saw the rap battle part, CLC is so stubborn… hahaha Try to win an argument that is reasonable.. haha

(source: koreaboo)

And then there are those who think this is just being taken too far. One particular comment on that that I actually agree with was one I found on YouTube.

[loveboxunderthetree]: “You should watch the full videos (CLC Queen’s game ep.2 – ep.3). I remember Btob said the problem of CLC was that “they were too kind!” and encouraged them to do something crazier. They even showed CLC how to do variety by making other member smell their feet lol. I think Yeeun actually followed what they said…that’s why she tried to do something crazy and unexpected by doing a joke with the bottle. After she did that, Minhyuk gave thumb up to Yeeun and said that she did well. (0:10)”

I really think if people saw the full episode they’ll see that this moment was as disrespectful as it’s being made out to be. I do believe she honestly thought she was following the directions they had been given. And since nobody made a big deal out of it, I don’t think this moment was meant to be a “bad thing”.

But don’t take my word for it! Check it out for yourselves. What do you think?
