Wednesday Kpop Update | Se7en New Release “I’m Good”, 3 Year Hiatus + Big Hit Apologizes for Lyrics + Girl Group D.Holic Making a Comeback with New Member(s) + New Music Videos

The world of kpop just didn’t seem the same when Se7en announced that he would have to take his official hiatus for his military service. And though we missed him and were able to listen to all his wonderful songs he left for us to enjoy, his comeback is what we’ve all been waiting for, whether we knew it or not.

The official video has already been released and you’ll find it at the end of this post. It was released at midnight KST. This will be Se7en’s first new song in three years!

Welcome back Se7en!

Big Hit Entertainment has been in some serious hot water over lyrics in BTS’ songs that have been misogynistic. It was so bad, they actually had to release an official apology today. But what was said exactly? Well the outrage came after the lyrics were released to songs such as “Hormone War” and Rap Monster’s “Joke”.

They said in an official statement:

[excerpt. See full statement at allkpop.com]

“Big Entertainment and BTS acknowledge that since the end of 2015, there’s been a controversy regarding the misogyny in BTS’s lyrics, and after reviewing the lyrics once again, we found out that a portion of the substance could be misunderstood to criticize women, which was not intended when it was being written, and made people uncomfortable…Big Hit Entertainment and all of BTS are extremely apologetic toward all of the fans as well as the people who felt uncomfortable because of BTS’s lyrics and SNS content, and we will continually refer back to such comments and problems in the future during the writing process… Even in the future, please continue to watch over BTS’s development, and if you point out the parts where we’re lacking, we will work even harder as we listen to the fans and society’s advice.”

As sweet as a gesture this was, the fans are split! Many fans are crying out that this was completely unnecessary and then there were those who fully appreciated the apology and are glad that they will be changing their words in the future.

I’m personally glad they handled this the way they did. Although, I’m from a country where the music and music videos are far worse, many people could still potential find offense in the language so I get it

And then there was D.Holic…

Did you know they were making a comeback? That’s right! The ladies of D. Holic are returning but with a bit of a shake-up.

Notice something?

The once five-member group has now because four and to add to it, they’ve added a new member rapper EJ. But why the change?

HMate Entertainment explains, “What once originally a five-membered group will now stand in front of fans with four members instead. Members Danbee and Duri have left the group, and rapper EJ will be joining in their stead.”

(source: soompi)

This is actually the second time they’ve had to make some changes and readjustments. Last August, their main vocalist Nine left for personal reasons.

I’m excited to see how this works out. This change will probably also result in a new sound as well.

Weekend/Monday Kpop Update | Seventeen’s Wonwoo Apologizes for Past SNSD Anti-fan Behavior + BTS Guest Star on 300th Episode of “Running Man” + Corn-Eating Trend Viral Video

I wanted to do this post yesterday but I couldn’t because I got a migraine out of nowhere. I unfortunately am one of the many who suffer from migraines. They’re awful.

However, I’m here today! So let’s get started!

We start this weekend with news about Seventeen’s Wonwoo who recently publicly apologized for his past “anti-fan” behavior against Girls’ Generation. Apparently, his many hateful and crude comments were leaked and he decided he wanted to apologize personally. Pledis Entertainment said in response:

“He wanted to apologize himself instead of through the label. He thought this would be the best way to express his feelings, so we are revealing this after a lot of thought. We apologize for not fulfilling our role as a guardian.”

(source: allkpop)

Many fans of Seventeen and SNSD are pretty divided on the issue. Though they are glad that he matured and apologized, some say it is either too little too late or that he’s only do this because it’s happening to him now. In other words, they don’t think he’s being too sincere. Personally, I can’t say whether or not I agree with them, but I do think we all make mistakes and this is just one of his. Hopefully in the future he’ll be more mindful of what he says about others.

You can view the full apology letter here below this is an excerpt.

“…First, I want to apologize for everyone who I have hurt by this situation. Instead of making excuses by saying they were foolish mistakes I made when I was young, or saying that I don’t remember what I did, I believed that admitting my faults and apologizing was the right choice, which is why I’m writing this…. Even though I wrote it when I was young, it is definitely something I wrote, and I am sorry to the Girls’ Generation sunbaenims, their fans, as well as Carats who were hurt by this. I am also sorry to the members, who worked hard together to become Seventeen together… I will work hard never to disappoint again. I will read all the criticism and advice on my immature actions and never forget them. Also, please continue to teach me. I apologize once again.”

The full letter is about a page or two long.

BTS will be guest starring on the 300th episode of “Running Man”! It was announced through instagram that they are currently filming for the appearance on the show. They also posted a picture that has all of BTS dressed in black against Running Man in all pink.

Apparently there’s a new trend to eat corn fast and it was all apparently started by this guy.

Well, the video went viral and copycat videos sprung up from it. And though there were some successes, the one that’s gone viral and potentially surpassing the popularity of the original is a video being dubbed “The Corn Girl”. She tried and well… it went horribly wrong!

I do mean… horribly wrong.

Thankfully she’s okay! The second half of the video she updated viewers by showing her doctor’s visit to treat her scalp.

Thursday Kpop Update | Singer Yozoh Apologizes for Cartoon + Chinese MC Expresses Too Much Affection for Seolhyun + Produce 101’s Final Debut + f(x) Amber “Borders” MV

I really and honestly don’t know where to begin. After the shocking news about Sulli’s upcoming “scene” with Kim Soo Hyun and the four celebrities, who have allegedly been named on various sites, being indicted on charges of prostitution… I honestly have no words for today. So I’ll skip the chitchat and post a photoshoot of Suzy on 1st Look magazine.

Let’s talk some kpop…

Singer Yozoh recently got some serious backlash when she decided to draw a cartoon that basically called her friend ugly. It all began when Yozoh decided to upload a cartoon strip she drew and captioned it, “First in a long time. Shin Yozoh’s cartoon. What happened yesterday. I’m sorry for being so honest.”

And then… it got real.

“In nine panels, the singer portrays herself and a TV show production staff member talking. It’s the recording day for JTBC’s talk show, “Kim Je Dong’s Talk to You – Don’t Worry, Dear” and she and the female staff are waiting behind the stage. The singer notices the jacket that staff is wearing and comments that it is cute and that the staff looks like the bunny character on the jacket. The female staff responds that she doesn’t really see the similarity; the bunny character is ugly. The singer then says, “You’re also ugly.” When the staff remains silent, the singer says, “I guess you thought you were pretty.” The final two panels show the singer being called to the stage and the staff member being left alone in gloom.”

Click the link to soompi to see the cartoon strip.

Honestly, I figured for her to post something like this, she and the person she was referring to have to be pretty close. It’s probably how they joke with each other. However, it was a pretty bad idea to upload it for the public to see knowing fully well that netizens don’t take too kindly to this type of behavior. And what do you know? They attacked as soon as they saw it. Yozoh ended up having to take the post down and apologizing for it saying,

“I think the cartoon uploaded yesterday made a few people uncomfortable. I received a few complaints… As someone who is also sensitive to comments that make fun of people’s weight and looks, I feel even more miserable that I allowed that kind of room for misinterpretation. I am sorry for causing the misunderstanding. I quickly deleted the cartoon because I thought there might be even more misunderstanding. This account has been private for a long time, but I hope this message will reach the people who misunderstood the cartoon.”

(source: soompi)

You can see her full apology on soompi. It’s a bit long so I omitted some of it and just got to the apology.

That account might be becoming private again really soon…

Speaking of inappropriate…

A Chinese MC just found out that excessive affection can land you in a whole lot of trouble. And after looking at the pictures, it looks warranted. AOA was performing for an event and this MC decided to get a handful of Seolhyun. He wasn’t groping her private areas or anything but he did violate her space… completely! And the response to his actions are… well…

“In addition to complaints from netizens who saw photos of the skinship at the event in Hong Kong, Chinese media outlets have also openly criticized the MC for his actions. In fact, fan unions from Hong Kong and Taiwan have even requested an official apology from the MC for putting the FNC Entertainment singer in such an uncomfortable and awkward situation.”

(source: koreaboo)

I guess he didn’t see that coming. Maybe next time he’ll keep his hands to himself.

So Produce 101 has their final group together and have been working on a debut. While we wait for their debut song, there have been some pretty major developments with the new group.

“…the group which has yet to be determined has already received numerous CF offers… YMC Entertainment, the agency that will be managing the project group, has revealed that the group will be promoting their album in April and May… Along with music promotions, the “Produce 101″ final girl group has been confirmed to appear on future episodes of “Weekly Idol” and “Cool Kiz on the Block”…”

Not bad ladies… not bad.

And finally, check out Amber’s new single “Borders”!

Monday Kpop Update | Yoo So Young Posts about Fan at BIGBANG Concert + Comedienne Lee Guk Joo Apologizing Via SNS + DIA 6-Member Group

As if the weekend wasn’t busy enough, today’s kpop news has been super busy as well. There was so much going on I didn’t even know where to start! I should’ve been following the feed a little better I guess.

Jessie has officially announced she’s making a solo comeback. This time, instead of her tough girl image, she’s going for a softer side. She’s releasing a kpop r&b ballad. Seo In Guk has also made a comeback. He released a new ballad called “Seasons of the Heart”. Apparently, he not only sings the track but he also had a hand in composing and writing it. Not bad.

EXID’s Hani worried a lot of fans over the weekend with her sudden illness. However, have no fear, says a rep from her agency, she’s doing better. Glad to hear that! They also wanted to let everyone know that in light of her health, she hasn’t had a busy schedule and they’ve made sure to give her time to rest.

Supernova’s Yoon Sungmo is still in a lot of hot water after his recent drunk driving incident. Apparently, he drove over the line in the road, made an illegal u-turn, crashed into a telephone pole, made a left turn and stopped short causing an accident with the police chasing him, injuring the two officers. Today, his agency Maroo Entertainment has released a statement addressing the incident, saying simply that not only does he accept responsibility for his actions but he will also be cooperating fully with the investigation.

Former After School member Yoo So Young made waves with netz when she posted a picture on her instagram account of a fan who was standing during the BIGBANG concert blocking her view. Apparently, everyone else was sitting down.

In the post she said,

“It’s not polite to be the only one standing inside the concert venue. What are the people behind you supposed to do?”

(source: soompi)

She later deleted the post after getting mixed reviews from fans. Some saying that it’s good she put the fan on blast, others upset that she would post it without the fans knowledge even if it doesn’t show the fan’s face and of course they want her to apology.

Speaking of apologies…

Comedienne Lee Guk Joo is apologizing this week for what she called her “careless behavior”. Apparently, the comedienne ruffled a lot of feathers all in the name of a joke and it upset a lot of fans.

“I am sorry to everyone whom I offended. I will make sure to be extra cautious of going overboard because I’m only focusing on being funny. I will be all the more thoughtful and all the more careful and work all the more diligently.

(source: soompi)

I’m not entirely sure what she’s sorry for, as she never specifically says, but it may have to do with recent incidents. A lot of fans have been speculating that it could be because she expresses too much skinship with guests on her show.

_________________________________________________________

And finally, DIA has returned with 18 year old Chaewon. They are now a 6-member kpop girl group!

You may remember that two of their members, Cathy and Chaeyeon, left temporarily for the Produce 101 program. The show were they will pick only 11 girls to debut and promote together for like a year or something and then, Cathy and Chaeyeon will return to DIA.

MBK Entertainment released a statement surrounding the news saying,

“Since Cathy and Chaeyeon have both temporarily left the group to participate on the cable show Produce 101, we have reorganized the group and recruited a new member to fill the vacant spot.”

( source: koogle.tv)

Well I’m sure they’ll still have the same great sound and it’ll be great to have Cathy and Chaeyeon back to join the 6 of them again.
