So this isn’t necessarily an Artist of the Week, this is just something new I’m trying where I highlight a different album for the week (or bi-weekly). I chose to start this week with Heize’s album that was released back in March. I’ve had this bookmarked for a while and really like it!
Check out the full album “Wish & Wind” below!
I was scrolling through the Artist of the Week posts and noticed that this particular post never made it.
This post is a bit different because 김성규 is not an underground artist. He is well known just maybe not as popular in the States. I was introduced to him in 2015 with his song “Kontrol” but his history goes back to 2010. Signed to Woolim Entertainment, he began in the kpop group Infinite before branching off into his own solo artistry around 2012-2013 and has been active ever since. However, don’t expect new music from it just yet. He announced back in March after his first solo concert that he would be enlisting in the military.
However, we still have his music to enjoy! Check out the sample playlist below!
So while I was surfing the net I ran across this artist that I had never even heard of before. I’m not sure why she’s not more popular! I couldn’t find a lot of music for her on spotify or soundcloud… it’s disappointing really. She’s an amazing R&B/Pop artist and her name is 샛별 Satbyeol.
I can’t find a lot of information on her either except from her fan page on Facebook which says that she released her first solo album, <1+1+1> on December 14, 2011 and since then she’s worked with numerous well-known artists such as The Quiett, Yankie, Crucial Star and Crown J as well as many more.
But even though I can’t make a playlist for her, I can share a music video of hers! Check it out below!
I was soo shocked I did not have 니아 here already as Artist of the Week! I searched twice to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me!! But that just means she will be now.
If you haven’t heard of 니아 (Nieah) then you are in for a real treat today if you are fan of R&B. She’s one of those artists that fall into the Neo-R&B category (as I have dubbed it.) I call it Neo because it’s a classic R&B sound with a pop feel to it. But I love her music and I’m pretty sure I’ve had her song “No Rush” on repeat forever!
Check out the sample playlist below featuring her music!
