가게 (ga-ge) | [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요!

We’re going to start this week with an easier vocabulary word. I say it’s easier because it is a word that not only have you seen here before but you’ve probably heard it or even used it yourself. We’ll be looking at the vocabulary word and then using it in a scenario.

Let’s get started!

가게 (ga-ge) | “shop/store”

Scenario | Siblings (Mina and Min-ho) – One is leaving home for the day

Mina | 민호야, 어디가? | “Min-ho, where are you going?”

Min-ho | 응, 누나. 어디 좀.  | “Oh Mina, just somewhere.”

Mina | 아, 그래? 가게에 갈 거니? | “Oh, really? Will you go to the store?”

Min-ho | 뭐 때문에? | “Okay, for what?”

In the scenario, you can see how the phrase 어디가 was used to not only greet the little brother, but also to start up a conversation.

Maybe Mina is sending Min-ho to get some groceries she forgot to pick up? Finish the scenario in the comments below!

That’s it for today!
