원하다 + (으)니 | [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요!

I saw this example when I was looking up ways to explain how to use (으)니 and I thought it was perfect! Today we’re going to be looking at a conversational example.

Let’s get started!

원하다 (wonhada) | “to want”

i.e.,

  • 사람 1:  왜 이것을 샀어? (Saram 1: wae igeos-eul sass-eo?) | Person 1: “Why did you buy this?”
  • 사람 2: 원했기으니까. (Saram 2: “wonhaessgieunikka.”) | Person 2: “Because I wanted it.”

I hope this is helpful in giving you an idea of how it would potentially look in conversation. In fact, you’ve probably heard it like this before or at least seen it.

That’s it for today!
