목소리 (mogsori) | [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요!

We are finishing off the week still talking about noise. Only this time, the noise is another type of speaking, it’s your voice. You may notice something familiar about this word. It combines two words that may already be familiar with. 목, “mouth” and 소리 “whisper”. When combined, these two become “voice”. Just an interesting note that may help with memorization.

목소리 (mogsori) | “voice”

i.e.,

  • 너의 목소리를 듣고. (Neoui mogsorileul deudgo.) | “I hear your voice. “
  • 그는 부드러운 목소리로 말했어. (geuneun budeuleoun mogsolilo malhaess-eo.) |“He spoke with a soft voice.”
  • 내 목소리를 들을 수 있어? (nae mogsolileul deul-eul su iss-eo?) | “Can you hear my voice?”

Okay so that’s it for this week! See ya next week!
