Today is another phrase that I think is pretty useful. We’ll talk about this tomorrow during the foreign language tip but, sometimes when you’re learning a new language, you can ask someone to “정말 천천히 말하십시오 (jeongmal cheoncheonhi malhasibsio)”. But sometimes, even if they do speak slowly, you still aren’t quite understanding. Maybe they’re using words you’re unfamiliar with or maybe you’re catching the familiar words but can’t seem to put the sentence together.
So what do you do?
적어 주세요 (jeog-eo juseyo) | “Please write it down”
If you’re in a position to ask this, i.e., “tutoring session”, “with friends”, etc. then request this if you’re still not understanding. You may not see the benefit now but tomorrow, I’ll show you how this is very beneficial in your language learning process.
You’ll be surprised how much you actually recognize in written form.
