Yesterday was a pretty busy day in the kpop world. For starters, Jiyul and Ga Eun announced that they would no longer be with Dal Shabet. They both released letters expressing their deep sadness and apologizes to the fans saying that their contracts have expired and they will not be renewing them, instead, both will venture on into other avenues of entertainment. Concerned fans, not only saddened by the news, are now expressing deep concern for the remaining members.
It also announced that AOA’s Seolhyun along with iKON’s B.I and Bobby will be making guest appearances on Running Man with other familiar faces. And Yoon Eun Hye made her first public appearance since the plagiarism allegations surrounding after her stint on “Goddess’ Fashion”.
Which brings us to today’s news… I guess this episode of Kpop Update is mainly surrounding SISTAR.
It was already known that Dasom would be starring in her first feature film called, “Like a French Movie” and now, it’s being released! The official release date is January 14, 2016. This of course isn’t Dasom’s first time acting as she has been featured in popular k-dramas in the past.
“Like a French Movie” is apparently four stories being told in one movie about love and relationships. And as much as I’d love to tell you more about this movie, I haven’t really seen a whole lot about it just yet. I’m guessing the synopsis will be released closer to January.
And another member of SISTAR, Hyorin has been working on another collaboration, this time with Jooyoung and Bumkey.
On December 9, Starship Entertainment revealed, “Hyorin, Jooyoung, and Bumkey will be collaborating with producing team Da Internz, who have previously worked with global artists such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Nicki Minaj. Please anticipate the special collaboration between three of Korea’s representative R&B vocalists.”
If “Dark Panda” was any indication of the style and type of music we should be expecting from such collaborations, we’re truly in for a treat!
And then there were two…
Girls’ Generation is now no stranger to solo debuts and success from its members. After Taeyeon successfully swept the charts with her solo release of “I”, many fans began wondering if there would be any other member branching out into the solo realm.
Enter Tiffany… Fans began speculating that maybe, just maybe, if any other member were to be taking their chance at a solo album it would be Tiffany.
However, SM said:
SM Entertainment was quick to release a statement regarding the speculations and took a cautious stance saying, “Nothing is determined yet.”
No real shocker there. If there were a solo album they’re going to keep that as tightly sealed as they possibly can. Can’t say I blame them for that!
And since we’re on the topic of SM. Check out EXO’s newest winter release, “Sing For You”.
