돌아와 (dorawa) [Word of the Day] (Kpop Teaches Korean Too | 2NE1 “Come Back Home”)

안녕하세요!

To end the week on the “Kpop Teaches Korean Too” theme, I’ve decided to go to one of my favorite songs, “Come Back Home” by 2NE1. Though this word isn’t said a lot in this song, it is one of the most commonly said words in kpop songs. (I googled that to make sure by the way)

What word?

돌아와 (dorawa) | “Come back”

Come baby baby come come baby
Come Come baby baby come come
내게 돌아와
Come baby baby come come baby
Come Come baby baby come come

내게 돌아와 (naege dorawa). This one is probably something that I don’t even have to translate and you don’t have to look up because you already know what it means looking at it. I’ll tell you anyway even though you don’t need a translation, “Come back to me”.

But what if you wanted to use this in another sentence?

Example:

  • 일찍 집에 돌아와 (iljjig jib-e dol-awa) | “Come back home early”
  • 그녀는 가게에 돌아왔다. (geunyeoneun gagee dol-awassda.) | “She came back to the store.”
  • 너는 돌아 오는거야? (neoneun dol-a oneungeoya?) | “Will you come back?” or “Are you coming back?”

Ok so I think I used it in every possible tense right? That’s it for this week’s theme! See you next week!
