기침 (gichim) [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요! (Annyeonghaseyo!)

Today is part 2 of the body and bodily functions. Yesterday it was 눈 (nun) and today it is 입 (ip) = mouth. Quick note: There won’t be a Vocabulary List of the Week this week since I am doing a list of words with each day of the week this time.

Let’s focus on a few things that happen with the use of a mouth.

기침 (gichim) = cough

한숨 (hansum) = sigh

먹다 (meokda) = to eat/식사 (sigsa) = meal | familiar terms

Examples:

  • 그녀는 나쁜 기침이 있습니다. (geunyeoneun nappeun gichim-i issseubnida.) = She has a bad cough.
  • 아직 식사를 했습니다? (ajig sigsaleul haessseubnida?) = “Did you eat yet?”
  • 나중에 먹을 것이다. (najung-e meog-eul geos-ida) = “I’ll eat later.”

These are just a few ways you may consider using these words. 내일까지! (naeilkkaji!)
