같이 (gachi) [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요! (Annyeonghaseyo!)

Starting off the week, we are back to Adverbs! This is also because we will finish adverbs in a sentence for the Grammar of the Week and next week we’ll focus more on sentences. Today’s word is really something I hear a lot. It’s usually said often in dramas, but I hear it a lot in daily conversations. You’re probably very familiar with this word as well.

같이 (gachi) [adv]: “with, together; like, in a similar way”

Examples:

  • 이제 저녁 식사를 같이하자. (ije jeonyeog sigsaleul gat-ihaja.) = Let’s have dinner together.
  • 우리는 같이 갈 것입니다. (ulineun gat-i gal geos-ibnida.) = We’ll go together.

I was struggling a bit to think of some sentences off the top of my head but I hope you can kinda get how to use this in your own daily speech.

내일까지! (naeillkkaji!)
