I learned this today. How to say “should” has kinda been a challenging topic for me right now. So I should rephrase this to, “I’m learning this and this is what I’ve learned so far”. If you’re confused by this, don’t worry. The more I understand the more I’ll explain but I’ll keep it simple today. There are a few different ways to say this, but I’m going to focus on one way as I learn it. Today is -야 되다 (-ya doeda).
-야 되다 (-ya doeda) translates roughly to “should”. It’s not a 100% English translation. (What you’ll probably learn or have learned by now is that everything that’s said in Korean doesn’t always translate 100% in English.)
- 어떡해야 돼? (eotteoghaeya dwae?) = What should we do?
- 나 뭐 해야 돼요? (na mwo haeya dwaeyo?) = What should I do?
- 나 그에게이를 줘야 돼? (na geuegeileul jwoya dwae?) = Should I give this to him?
Honestly, I’m still learning this but I was so excited about it that I had to share it. I’ll probably cover this again when I get a better understanding. But for now, here it is in a rough translation.
