우리들 (urideul) [Word of the Day]

안녕하세요! (Annyeonghaseyo!)

Yesterday I talked about the word 여러분 (yeoreobun). I told you guys how I get that word and 우리들 (urideul) confused all the time. Remember that 우리 (uri) means, “us” and 들 (deul) is in reference to multiple people. And I knew that 여러분 (yeoreobun) meant “everybody” so I kinda just thought they were interchangeable. And I kinda was just… wrong.

우리들 (urideul) [pronoun-“ish”]: “All of us”; (including yourself) So you see, even though they are similar in that they are in reference to more than one person or a group of people,

여러분 (yeoreobun) is not including yourself but 우리들 (urideul) does include you.

Example:

  • 우리들 갈 수 있습니다. (ulideul gal su issseubnida.) = All of us can go./We can go.

So that’s it for today! -내일까지! (naeilkkaji!)
